Spike found himself jumping as Willow entered the Magic Box and waved hi to him. She noticed his strange reaction and looked at him oddly but he just shook his head and she moved on.

He took a quick glance over at Xander. He hadn’t been able to look the man in the eye all night. He still felt guilty about that stupid dream. It was like *he* had cheated on Xander. It was just a dream. But it had felt so real.

Spike decided he’d had enough of Giles’ sermon of the evening. There was nothing around to kill tonight anyway and he wanted to get back to his crypt. He stood abruptly and without a word to anyone, stormed from the store.

His crypt in sight, Spike realized that he wanted to curl up in bed, go to sleep, and find out just what was going to happen. So he decided to do just that. He lay there for a long time before he realized that he wasn’t sleepy. Damn it.

Standing with a sigh, he switched on the tv and vcr again and watching last week’s episodes of Passions all over again. He just couldn’t get enough of the show.

Noah Bennett unloaded the last box from his car and carried it into his new home. It wasn’t much but at least it was his. And he would be able to pay for it with money he earned legally. Not from the gambling and other schemes he’d left behind.

Harmony was his home. He’d grown up here, son of the revered Sam and Grace Bennett. His father was the town sheriff and Noah had done everything to prove that just because his dad was a cop didn’t mean that he couldn’t break a few rules and have a good time.

The problem was that breaking those few rules had turned into breaking a few more and before he knew it, Noah was in way too deep and way over his head. It had taken all the courage he had to call his father and admit he was in trouble.

Of course, Sam had reacted with his usual wisdom and helped Noah out. Now he was here and his father already had a job set up for him down at the Crane’s restaurant. It wasn’t much, but at least it was legit.

Buffy was nervous. She hadn’t told Ethan the entire truth earlier at breakfast. She knew Spike wasn’t good for Xander. She knew this from personal experience. But she was too embarrassed to tell her friend what she had done.

So Buffy decided that she would find her own way to break up Spike and Xander. A way that couldn’t be traced back to her. Xander was predictable to someone who knew him as well as she did. As soon as he found out what Spike was doing behind his back, he would be gone. Buffy just had to make sure Xander never found out that she was one of them.

Knocking on the door to Spike’s studio, she half expected that he wouldn’t answer. Especially if he looked out and saw that it was her. But to her surprise the door flew open and Spike himself stood there, looking as sexy as she remembered.

“Hello, Spike.”

“Well, if it isn’t last week’s stand. What can I do for you, Buffy?”

She wanted to slap that smug smile of his face. “I came to make sure that no one was going to find out what happened between us.”

“Oh, you mean like your best friend? No, Buffy, I don’t think I’ll be telling Xander that you stopped by for a visit last week.”

“Good. Make sure no one else finds out either Spike. It was a stupid mistake and I’m sorry it ever happened.”

“Not as sorry as I am.”

“You bastard! You cheated on my best friend and you’re acting like it’s no big deal. I should just tell him to get him the hell away from you.”

“Go ahead, pet. He wouldn’t believe you. I’ll deny it and it’ll look like a desperate ploy on your part to break us up. But on the other hand, why don’t you go ahead and try it? I’d love to not have to hear him prattle on about how wonderful you and that Crane git are.”

Spike stepped back into his studio and slammed the door in her face. Buffy was furious. No one treated her that way and got away with it. And more importantly, no one treated Xander that way and got away with it. Spike was going to pay.

Ethan stared out his office window, wishing for the hundredth time that day that he’d just cancelled his meetings and stayed home. But he couldn’t do that. Crane’s didn’t cancel meetings. Crane’s didn’t stay home.

His intercom beeped at him and his secretary chirped in that Gwen was here to see him. Finally, a bright spot in his dreary day. Gwen, the love of his life, was the only bright spot in his world these days.

She walked into the office and her bright smile was enough to cheer him up. He wrapped her in his arms and she returned the hug for a moment before pulling back and looking at him with a concerned expression. “Everything okay, sweetie?”

“Everything’s fine now that you’re here. How was the charity luncheon?”

“It was wonderful. We raised quite a bit for the Crane foundation and I already have several projects in mind for the funds. I’m so grateful that your father gave me the opportunity to run the foundation. I know you talked him into it. It makes me love you even more.”

Ethan shook his head quickly trying to deny her words. But they were true. And they both knew it. His father would never have given Gwen a job if it wasn’t for his intervention.

“I just put in a good word. You did the rest. And now you’re proving to us both what a wonderful decision we made.”

Ethan pulled his coat from the back of his chair. “Let’s take the afternoon off and celebrate.”

“Oh Ethan, I can’t. I have a meeting with the caterers for the ball next month and then I have to go pick out the centerpieces and verify the invitations. Rain check?”

Ethan sighed and dropped his coat back into position. “Well, I guess I’ll get back to work then. See you at home?”

Gwen nodded before pressing a quick kiss to his lips and heading off to do her foundation work.

Willow tried to sneak into the workroom but she already knew it was too late. Tara had obviously been working for several hours on the spell they were assigned today. Spike had let her sleep instead of waking her up early like he normally did.

Then she’d had to hide in the closet while that ogre Buffy talked to Spike. Willow wished she’d been able to hear that discussion but could only imagine that it was Buffy bashing Spike again about Xander.

If only his friends knew the kinky things they did behind closed doors, they would drag Xander away kicking and screaming. But Willow knew that if she wanted Spike to herself, all she had to do was bide her time.

Spike would screw up sooner or later all on his own and Willow planned on being there to pick up the pieces.

Tabitha walked into the room just as Willow was getting out her supplies. “Well, lookie what the cat dragged in, Timmy. Could that be our missing Willow? But no, it couldn’t be Willow because I distinctly remember telling Willow that she wasn’t to leave here without my permission. Surely Willow wouldn’t be silly enough to risk this opportunity just to get a few thrills in?”

Timmy sniggered and looked up adoringly at Tabitha. She looked down at him and smiled as well. Willow crossed the room to them and Tabitha’s smile fell from her face as she approached the young witch.

“You arrogant young woman. Did you really think that I wouldn’t find out about your antics? I should release you right now. You know that there are other witches who would kill to have this position. I think you are just wasting my time.”

“No, madam, please. I’m so sorry. I promise it won’t happen again. I just needed to get away for a while. Please, I’ll do anything.”

“Anything?” Willow nodded. “Timmy, take her downstairs. It seems my young apprentice needs to learn a lesson.”

Xander walked into the house and called out for Spike. It had been a long day and he really wanted to see his boyfriend. He called out for Spike but there wasn’t an answer. With a sigh, Xander headed for the bedroom.

He smiled when he heard the shower running and quickly stripped off his clothes. He knew just the way to make his day get better.

Xander opened the shower door and his mouth dropped open in shock. “Oh, God.”

Spike jerked awake and then cursed loudly. Damn it! He couldn’t believe he’d woken up just then. He had to know what made Xander have that look on his face. He tried to force himself back to sleep but it just wasn’t happening. Damn it! Damn it!!!

Spike jumped out of bed and began pacing. How was he going to face Xander tomorrow after all this? And Willow? God, how was he even going to be able to look her in the face? Oh man, and Buffy too. Dream Spike was going to ruin his life.
