Kyra's point of view
Kyra’s POV:
Halloween Kyra finds herself out of limbo but still stuck in beast form. She had a collar attached to the belt of some guy. She felt a connections to him yet not, as if he wasn’t suppose to be there some how. He let her go and so she followed him. She heard the girl say some of the monsters were kids in costumes transformed by a spell. Being stuck as a beast she knew that feeling all to well. She agreed with the spirit in the teen’s body, Riddick he had called himself. She wondered if she had a name. If she did she didn’t remember it.
She stopped the monsters from slowing them know knowing where they were going was important. The ones she felt the spell about she merely stopped with as little harm as possible. The real monsters, the demons, she eat. She knew somehow that she must eat their flesh to survive and in doing so she would earn her mate who would return her to normal.
As they approached the building Kyra felt a great evil. She was scared but Riddick seemed fine with it so she stayed with him. She felt safer with him than on her own. She lay at his feet to show him she was with him no matter what.
When the man broke the spell and Riddick killed the man who cast it she wondered if she would return to limbo as she felt his presence leave the teen behind. When she found she too remained she looked at the teen and felt a connection snap into place.
This was him. She thought excitedly, this was her future mate, the one she was created to be with. She was over joyed as the promise that she would be herself again. She followed him as she had done Riddick most of the night. They returned to the place of knowledge and retrieved what Riddick had left for him.
She followed as he led her to his home. She followed him to his room and wondered when she would be released form the spell. He spoke softly to her and was kind. He gave her a name, Kyra. It had meant something to Riddick. Someone close to his heart. She just knew that he would break the spell and be with her always. She waited but nothing happened. He stripped down and she admired the view. He left her to go to the bathroom and she did not follow but waited. He seemed so tired when he returned he fell into bed and to sleep almost immediately. When he began to have nightmares she crawled into the bed next to him to try and comfort him.
She had stayed by his side when he went back to the school as she learned it was called. She had watched as he told the mentor about Riddick and she had watched the others reaction to him and showed herself to them. It was all good until the blonde girl came in.
She had come to know her mate was called Xander. The blonde girl looked at him strangely. She realized the girl could feel her if not see her. Then the girl had reached for her mate and his fury arose. She had walked over and nuzzled him like she did when he had his nightmare and he calmed. She knew she needed to show the girl she was there so the girl, no he called her Slayer. So Slayer would stop looking like it wanted to kill Xander.
Before she could blink Slayer had tried to attack her and Xander had defended her. He said she was his. Soon he would see she was his mate and she would be herself again. She was happy to wait a bit longer.
They left and spent a wonderful time in the desert. He would run with her and they played in the hot sun. He curled up and shared warmth at night. He petted her fur and it felt so nice. She was certain he would claim her and break the spell.
They returned to the town and hunted together. They scared the demons in the bar and made money killing the really bad ones. He got a house and they moved in. He got the one with a big back yard so they could run and play together. She was still happy to wait knowing it would be soon.
Months past and the humans came by for holidays, to research, to train….Then she saw the dark haired girl kiss her mate. She was furious. She never showed herself no matter how much he asked her to. She would bump into the girl and make her trip over her to show him how clumsy she was. She wanted him to see the girl was not the mate for him.
Finally the girl felt him alone. She still came around but she didn’t try and kiss him anymore. So she quit trying to trip the girl after that but still never showed herself to her.
Time past and still he didn’t see she was waiting for him. The Gypsy said she was cursed and she knew he would figure it out soon. He worked so hard looking for a cure for her and the demon the blonde had chosen as a mate. She helped show them that Willow’s mate was a beast too and nothing worked he still didn’t know that all he had to do was except her.
He had finally found the spell to help the vampire and many were happy to not be worried about him losing his soul. She felt how sad her mate was and how he struggled to see the truth that was just beyond his reach.
As she lay beside him she felt the connection grow more and more before she fell asleep. She joined him in his dream and showed him what they could have if he would just admit that he loved her and she was his mate. Then she began to change and as she drifted out of his dream she felt the dream change. She knew he had dreamed he lost her. Then a memory of Riddick and his Kyra. She closed her eyes and snuggled up to him trying to comfort him and the dreams finally left them both to rest.
When she looked up into his eyes she felt a bit shy. Nearly four months she had waited and wished for this moment and now it was here. He looked on her in awe and held her as if she would disappear.
“HI” she said shyly and he smiled, “Hi Kyra. What happened?” she thought for a bit, “Not sure I guess it was my time. When I was created I was able to switch forms but then I got stuck and found myself in limbo for a while. I was told by the Elemental who found me that I had a destiny and when my mate accepted me I would be free.” She licked her lips nervously, “I guess you except me then?” she asked almost shyly. Xander leaned over and kissed her softly, “Yeah I guess I finally figured it out.”
