Sunnydale 1997, Sunnydale High library:
“Giles, have you seen Buffy and Willow at all?” Xander asked as he walked into the library. “No Xander I haven’t” Giles answered. Xander found him scanning books into the school directory. Strange considering they lived on a Hellmouth. “They were supposed to meet me this morning and we were going to walk to school together.” He sighed.
Giles didn’t look up and answered him with a grunt. Xander knew that this conversation was going nowhere so he got up and went to class. Giles, all the while was still enthralled in his books.
France 1184:
For having beaten Odo, or maybe it was because she was a girl, Buffy was given a horse to ride. The procession followed the road out of the castle and into the quaint village that surrounded it. Buffy couldn’t remember, but she was certain that the village was were it was, as to be protected by the castle.
They rode on in silence. Buffy was certain she wanted to be nowhere near Odo. She suspected that his feelings were hurt because he was beaten by her. She spurred her horse forward and found herself parallel to the hopsitaller. She wanted to say something but her beat her to it.
“I’m sorry if I had offended you earlier. I didn’t know that you held your naked form in such high esteem.” He said not looking at her. This was one strange apology. She didn’t know if he was joking or if he was serious. “Why wouldn’t I be? I have no idea who any of you are and you are ogling my…My, My…jublies.” She said. “What word is that?” the hopsitaller inquired. “Breasts, that’s what jublies are.” She answered, exasperated.
They went a little further and Buffy started to feel guilty for having dug into him so. “Look, I’m sorry for giving you a hard time. I’m also sorry for wigging out when you were trying to help me.” She said “Again you use word that come from this California that you speak of.” He said, this time a warming smile graced his face. “Oh sorry, I mean when I started…uh…going mad.” She said trying to find words that he would understand.
“I thank you for your honesty. I mean no ill tidings toward you.” He said. Buff smiled herself and rode to the front of the procession. There she found Godfrey. She rode next to him for awhile, looking over to him. He kept his eyesight fixed straight ahead. Finally he acknowledged her presence.
“I find that you watch me with a great deal of interest.” He said, keeping his eyes ahead. She dropped her head and blushed. She found it curious that even in this strange land and time, she can find a Giles. “I’m sorry; it’s just that you remind me of someone very dear to me.” She answered.
“Quite alright my dear, I was once young. I know the feeling of longing, of yearning for something that you know will never come to pass. I have had but only one child, I had to leave him and his mother because my Christian beliefs were quarrelling with my love. I have not seen him since his birth and that is where we go now. I look at you and think of what could have been. You remind me so much of Lucinda.” He said smiling with a comforting smile.
Buffy was touched at his confession. She could see the love he had for his wife and son. She could see that to leave for a duty was the one thing that torn him apart. He maybe a strong crusader, but she could tell it was that one decision in his life that was torturing him now.
She did not realize that they had stopped in front of a dank hut. There were two people in side and it was what appeared to be a blacksmiths forge. She could smell the coal and sulfur burning. It wasn’t more than a minute that they were outside when the man from the prison came out, Balian.
Everyone looked at him and he in turn stared at him. It was the hopsitaller who spoke up. “These Horses need fed and shod. We’ll pay.” Balian shook his head in a feeble gesture of agreement. “He says yes.” The hopsitaller said as the party dismounted the horses.
The party dispersed and went about their individual business. Little groups started forming and it seemed that these guys don’t get much downtime. Buffy followed the hopsitaller and Godfrey into the dank hut. Godfrey came to her. “You are to be my newest knight. As I said before we can use a person with skills like yours.” “You said I was to be a squire.” Buffy protested. “That I did, However, I think your place is on the field of battle.” He said taking her face into his hands.
“I pray you go out and get the vestments of a proper knight.” He said turning her towards the door. “I will help her, my lord.” The hopsitaller offered. Buffy could tell when she wasn’t wanted. Buffy went from the hut and out to the cart. The hopsitaller got unto the cart and started rooting around. Before long he had drawn out a new pair of cloths that Buffy was expected to use. She took the cloths and went to an abandoned house and changed her cloths.
These new cloths weren’t really different than what she had on. She still had the crimson and khaki tunic, but her pants were tighter fitting. She also wore a chain mail set over her pants. Under the crimson and khaki tunic, was a chain mail shirt. She was given a cap that had a very large cross on the left shoulder. To top it off, she was given a large full headed helmet called a great helm.
After she wrestled all of her new cloths on, she went back over to the blacksmiths forge. Godfrey was talking to Balian and Buffy used her slayer hearing to over hear what was going on. “Even though I was a knight I didn’t force her. You are all that survives me, I ask that you come to Jerusalem, if you do….You will have my thanks.” Both men stared at each other, almost daring the other to speak.
Godfrey was the first one to speak. “You will never see me again. If you want anything of me, take it now.” “I want nothing.” Balian answered, not looking at him. “Sorry for your troubles.” With that Godfrey spun on his heels and walked at a brisk pace from the building. Buffy followed him and noticed that every one was on their horse. Not wanting to be an individual, she mounted her horse.
They started riding away and Godfrey turned back around to face Balian, who had come to see the riders off. “Jerusalem is not hard to find. Go to were to men speaks Italian, then go to where he speaks something else. We go by the Messina.” After he said that he caught up to the rest of the group and rode off. Buffy looked back at Balian. He could not tell it was her because of her helmet, but she could see that he was a very sad man.
The group rode for quite awhile in silence. The cold was biting. Buffy didn’t feel the need to talk. She huddled under her cape, trying to stay warm. Night fall came and yet the party still rode on, slowly, but still going. This gave Buffy time to think. She still didn’t know were Willow had gone. She decided that she would deal with it but there is nothing she could do about it now. Right now she decided that she would get through this. Buffy could feel her eyes getting heavy and she slowly drifted into a fitful sleep.
When she did wake up, it was because the hopsitaller was holding her horse. “What’s going on?” she asked groggily. “It appears that the boy Balian has decided to follow us. Godfrey is taking care of it.” Buffy looked down the path. She got off her horse and walked down the path to where the two were talking. “I don’t think you should…” The hopsitaller said. Buffy blew him off and continued on.
She got close enough that she didn’t need to use her slayer hearing and listened to the conversation. “Have you come to kill me? Even these days it is not easy.” Godfrey said still on his horse. “I have done it…murder.” Balian said meekly. “Haven’t we all.” There was a silence between them and then Balian spoke up again. “Is it true that I can erase my sins and those of my wife’s?” Balian asked him. “We can find out together.” With that they both rode back toward the group.
Buffy hurriedly went to her horse but she was caught before she could get to it. “What are you doing?” Godfrey asked her “I was…uh trying….I …I found something on the ground and got off to get it.” She said guiltily. “No she wasn’t my lord. She got off to spy on you and the boy.” Odo chimed in. Buffy glanced back at him and gave him a piercing look. “Is this true, Buffy?” “Yes sir.” She said hanging her head.
“You must understand that I have risked a great deal by saving you. I have risked a great deal more by making you a knight of my house; therefore you understand that it is well within my right to punish you?” Godfrey said. “Yes sir.” “That is good. I will let you go this time, because we have more important matters, don’t let it happen again.” With that Godfrey rode back to the front of the column. Balian then came beside her. “It would seem that you have an affinity for misbehaving, Buffy.” He smiled at her and rode up with Godfrey.
Buffy smiled back as she watched him ride away. There was something about Him that Buffy liked. She didn’t know what it was, just that she knew. They rode on for a little while longer and then stopped in a clearing in the woods. They would make camp here. The lower men took the horses and fed and watered them. Te knights laid out their blankets and drew their tents. The hopsitaller started a fire in the middle of the group and it was soon apparent that this would be the gathering place.
Buffy looked around, already having pitched her tent. She saw the other knights starting to clean their swords or like Balian lay down and take a nap. A small man that was the lowest of the squires, walked to the creek they were near. He went from sight and Buffy paid no more attention to him. She herself decided to walk to the creek and try to wash a little bit. Downstream she saw the squire standing at waters edge and a little further she could see Jubbah.
Buffy dropped to her knees and began ladling water to her face with her hands. She took in the cold feeling of the water. It was clear and refreshing. Buffy was startled when she heard Jubbah yelling something. He was yelling at the young squire up stream. Buffy brought her gaze to him and she noticed that he was pissing in the creek. Since Jubbah was downstream, he would be getting the entire “Flavor”.
The squire realized his mistake and quickly zipped him self up and went back towards camp. Buffy Smiled a little and went back to camp herself. She found the hopsitaller making some sort of medicine and Odo was cleaning his chain mail. Godfrey caught her gaze and she noticed that he had a sword in his hand. He was walking towards her then stopped at Balian. He threw the sword down at his sleeping form. “Get up.”
Balian stirred and groggily picked the sword from the ground. “Let’s see what you’re made of.” Godfrey said drawing his own sword. “He’s hurt my lord.” The hopsitaller objected. “I once fought two days with an arrow through my testical.” He countered.
Godfrey swung his sword and Balian blocked it, but barely. Balian brought the sword down in front of him, waiting for the next strike. “You fight well. Never use a low guard.” Godfrey instructed him. “Use a high guard, like this.” He brought his sword over his head in both hands.
“The Italians call it la postra Di Falcona, the guard of the hawk.” Godfrey swung his sword again and Balian had a better time of blocking. Buffy watched in amazement. She had swords of her own to fight the demons and vampires with, but Giles had never taught her how to use one like this. She took notes in her head to show Giles when ever it was she went back to her own time.
They sparred for a little while, when Godfrey swung his sword and Balian blocked. He then grabbed his own blade and brought the hand guard to Balian’s throat. “The blade is not the only part of a sword.” Godfrey said as he took the hilt from his neck. All of a sudden Odo called out. “I have your lead.” With that Odo resumed the attack on Balian. Buffy could tell that this was all for the purpose of training but she could not help but to think they were picking on him.
Odo and Balian clashed swords for a little while longer, when Buffy heard something, or rather someone coming up the road. She got to her feet and wrapped he cape closely around her. She had a feeling things were about to take a turn for the worse.
A large man, with half a score of men at arms, rode up to the camp. Godfrey, Odo, Balian, the hopsitaller and all of the others stopped what they were doing and watched. The new man on horse back, was the first to speak. “Your man Balian has killed, I am charged by both the lord bishop and my father to bring him back.” The man said.
Balian walked up to Godfrey and said something about doing it. Buffy couldn’t tell. Godfrey look back at the man and simply said. “So have I.” Buffy could not believe that he was challenging the authority of a knight. She was not in this world long, but she knew enough to know that these guys played with the big leagues. “I say he is innocent of the charge, if you say different, then we will fight and god will decide the truth of it.” Odo, said out of nowhere.
“My German friend is a close steward of the law.” The hopsitaller said. As he did Buffy saw him pull his nose piece down on his helmet, it was as if he knew that they would not listen to reason and there would soon be a fight. “Just give him to me, I’ll fight you for something else.” The horseman said. Godfrey then walked to the man’s horse. “Of all of those who die here today, you will certainly be among them.” He said.
What Godfrey said seemed to strike a cord and the man backed off a little bit. “You are my uncle, I must give you the road.” The knight then turned his horse and rode off. Godfrey had also turned from him and put his sword away. That, however, was not the best of decisions.
The air became quiet. Nothing moved, not even the trees. The rest of the knights had noticed the tranquility as well. The air was pierced by the sound of someone in the trees yelling something to someone else. In that second the area was filled with flying arrows.
A squire that Buffy had not noticed a moment ago was hit in the face with an arrow. Godfrey pulled his sword from its sheath and started to yell orders to his men. Odo had taken his sword form its home and was striking down intruders.
Buffy did not have a weapon that she could use, so she went and hid under a tree root. From her vantage point she could see the violence unfold before her. Balian had taken the sword that Godfrey had given him and used it with great effect.
Buffy looked to her left and saw the exact moment that Odo was hit in the throat with an arrow. It was a fat crossbow bolt and it violently entered his neck on the left side in the front and came out the right side in the back. He went to the ground and seemed to die. She cringed from that and looked to her right. She saw Godfrey on a horse, he swung his sword and cut the throat of a man who was on the ground. He lifted his arms to switch his sword form one hand to another and he too, was hit with an arrow, in his right chest.
Buffy heard a noise behind her and she turned to see Balian shove the cross guard of his sword in the throat of one of the attacking men. He ran on and she lost sight of him. AS she tried to follow him her view was blocked by a man coming across the clearing. Odo had gotten back up and was continuing the fight. If he wasn’t slightest bit intimidating when he was normal, he was a monster now. The crossbow bolt protruding from his throat like a demonic growth, blood flowing in rhythmic pulses with his heart beat. His eyes were glazed over and she was certain that he couldn’t really see anything.
Buffy sat under the tree with her mouth hanging open. She had never in her young life seen so much violence and death. She was the slayer and she did kill things, but they were the undead. These were living, human, beings. She was brought back to reality when she felt some ones hands grab her and forcefully pull her from her hiding spot.
The man that had pulled her out was not one of Godfrey’s men, but one of the men trying to get them. He raised his sword above his head and was about to bring it down when Balian came from behind him and thrust the sword through the man. Buffy was backed against the tree and she watched as the sword came within inches of her and stop. She looked back towards her attacker and he coughed up blood, getting some on her face.
Balian and Buffy stood, staring at each other for what seemed like forever. Buffy was the first to break their gaze, and say something. “It’s gotten really quiet.” They looked through the dense trees and the only thing to meet their gaze was the thick growth of the Forrest thicket above them.
Balian and Buffy then walked back towards the main camp in silence, their minds swarming with questions, but not daring to speak.
What they found was a scene of utter carnage. Odo was dead, finally having been brought down by the arrow that had pierced his throat. Juba lay beside him, the broken shafts of multiple arrows, clearly giving away the cause of his death. The hopsitaller was kneeled over Odo, saying a silent prayer.
There was movement from the right and Buffy saw Godfrey and his squire forcefully pull a man from the bush and make him kneel on the ground. “I am a lord of France; therefore I have to right to ransom.” The captive man said sheepishly, not knowing his fate. “You will take off your helmet when addressing me.” Godfrey replied, sternly. The man swallowed hard and removed his helmet. He then repeated what he said and once again sat in Silence waiting for an answer.
“So you are.” Godfrey said, before nodding to his squire and turning a way from him. Buffy watched as Godfrey’s squire walked up from behind the man, he leveled a war hammer just inches above his head, the spiked end, almost touching the back of his head. What happened next happened so fast, Buffy could barley tell what was going on. The squire raised the war hammer over his head and brought it down forcefully into the back of the captive’s skull. The spike penetrated up to the hilt and, expelling blood with such force that Buffy was hit. The mans eyes went wide and then he fell to the ground, dead.
Sunnydale California, 1997:
“I know Mrs. Summers, I am just as at a loss over Buff’s and Willow’s disappearance as you are…Yes I know they have been missing for four days, I have talked to Willow’s mother and She is talking about involving the police, I suggest you do the same.” Giles said over the phone with Joyce.
Xander was pacing the library and trying desperately calm down. His two best friends were gone and he didn’t know what to do. He had known Willow since they were kids, and even though he just met Buffy recently, he still cared for her.
All of a sudden, there was a noise from the door to the library. Giles Dropped the phone and Xander’s eyes went wide with shock. They were not prepared for the sight that greeted them.
“Hey guys” Willow said shyly.
France, 1184:
Buffy was walking alone in the woods, she did not want to be in the camp and she had no where else to go. The hopsitaller was tending to a wound that Godfrey had received and she wasn’t interested in blood and guts if she could help it. She sat down on a fallen log and thought about home. She thought about her mom Joyce and Xander, school and most importantly what had happened to Willow.
Her thoughts were interrupted when Balian came to her side. “I want to thank you for saving me earlier today.” Buffy said not looking at him. “It was nothing, what man is a man, who does make the world a better place, especially for a frail girl such as your self.” Buffy was taken aback at what Balian had said. “What does that mean?” she demanded.
“I’m sorry it’s just that girls don’t know how to fight, it is man, who does the fighting.” He said looking to her. Buffy quickly got to her feet and stared down at Balian. “So you think women can’t fight?” “It’s not that, it’s just that…” Before he could finish Buffy stormed of into he darkness of the woods.
Buffy was fuming, how he could think that she couldn’t fight. Didn’t he see her kick Odo’s ass? After what Buffy thought was sufficient distance, she stopped. As quickly as her anger had come to Balian, it had left her and was replaced by despair. She began to sob. She drew deep breath as the tears began to roll down her face. She missed her Mom and Xander and Home, She had to get back.
A sound in the distance caught her by surprise. She wiped her eyes and sniffled, before she called out into the night. Balian had followed her and was stumbling through the brush. When he was a foot away from her he stopped. He was about to say something when Buffy grabbed him and thrust her lips to his in a passionate kiss.
Balian taken by surprise returned her kiss with equal abandon. Buffy threw her arms around him and continued the kiss. He hands started to wander around Balian’s tight body. She let go from the kiss and went to his Belt, she undid it and removed his tunic, throwing it to the ground. Balian was starting to get the idea and went to undo the belt of Buffy’s tunic as well.
After their tunics were removed they went back to kissing. Buffy sliding her tongue in and out of Balian’s mouth and he doing the same to her. Without breaking the kiss Balian removed Buffy’s under shirt, exposing her pert round breasts to the night air. He moved his right hand up and down the chiseled body of the slayer, taking in her very essence. Blain withdrew from the kiss when he noticed Buffy was once again crying.
“Have I done something wrong?” he whispered to her lovingly. She shook her head and retook him back into her embrace. Buffy removed her pants and moved her hand to take Balian’s penis out of his tunic. She massaged it to full erection and rubbed it against her vagina. Buffy fell forward, taking Balian with her. Buffy lay on Balian’s arms for a few minutes and then straddled him. She positioned his penis against her Vagina and started to go down. She did it slowly, never having the touch of a man before, inch by inch. After a while she had taken all of him inside her. When she had gotten somewhat accustomed to the fell of him inside her, she started thrusting back and forth slowly on him, starting a rhythm.
Balians matched her movements and were in synchronized movement with each other. Buffy had never felt the touch of a man before and the sheer size of him was almost enough to bring her climax. Balian reached up with his free hands and started to massage her breast with his hands, his rough hands moving over her erect nipples, sending waves of ecstasy through her body.
Buffy was about to climax and could tell that Balian was about to too. Right before they were about to cum, she stopped and got off of Balian. Balian to his knees and Buffy got on all fours, both seeming to know what the other wanted. Balian grabbed his dick and moved to Buffy’s vagina. Remembering that she was new to this, he entered her slowly. Soft moans escaped form Buffy, she dared not make any more sound, lest the rest of the camp and find them in this compromising situation.
Balian, started to thrust deep into her, going up to his hilt, then pulling back again. His left hand grabbed Buffy’s waist and his right grabbed a handful of her hair. They continued for another few minutes then when the y had as much as they could take Buffy and Balian climaxed together, Waves of pleasure washing over their bodies. Balian took his dick out of her and put his uniform back on. Buffy got up and did the same. Then they sat and stared into the night sky, neither saying a word.
“Why?” Balian asked. “I just felt I had to. I am so lost in this whole place and I felt that if I had one moment of pleasure I would feel a little better.” “Do you?” he continued. “Yeah a little, I do actually.” She said with a half smile, looking towards the stars. “We must go; we are still on the way to Jerusalem.” Balian said getting to his feet and offering his hand to Buffy.
They walked back to the camp in silence. Buffy knew that she could trust Balian. She wanted to believe that they could last but she knew that her priority was still to find away home. She once again slipped back to despair, releasing that they could never last, that she was in a sense using him for her own greedy ends. Nothing lasting, nothing real.
A/N: Alright, That is that chapter; please tell me what you think. Feel free to give me advice, this is my first fic, so please go easy on me. Thanks.
