Three Drabbles Written for Open On Sunday
This is a series of three drabbles in the Amnesty!Verse that were written for the live journal community open_on_sunday. If I remember right the prompt was sounds or voices. It's been ten months, I can't really remember.
The Sound of Silence
A week after Xander’s eighteenth birthday the human moved into the mansion with Angel, but if it hadn’t been for the human’s heartbeat Angel would never have known Xander was there.
Around the others Xander stayed the same. Laughing, joking, making lewd comments. It was only when he came home that the mask would drop and Angel would see the shattered soul inside. Xander didn’t even play music, or ask about a television.
Angel found himself in the odd position of missing the sound of the boy’s banter, even if it was only Xander practicing sharpening his wits on him.
Eavesdropping
As soon as Xander learned that Buffy had the nice demon accessory package of reading minds, he panicked. He was proud he kept the main part of his mind babbling about sex, boobs, and girls and how many times he thought about having sex with girls. Thought about it really loud.
That way Buffy wouldn’t hear the little voice in the back of his head that had been running on a continuous loop. About how he didn’t trust his friends, didn’t trust himself.
There was no way in hell he was going to let Buffy listen in on his mind.
A Voice of a Friend
Angel felt Xander move up behind him but he didn’t make a sound. Angel sighed. If anyone had told him two months ago he’d be talking to Xander he would have laughed. “She came over to talk, but was just trying to look through my mind. She even opened the curtains. Said she forgot I couldn’t go out in the sun.” They were just small things, but had been bothering Angel since he’d had time to stop and think.
“If it makes you feel any better, Larry thinks I’m gay.”
Angel chuckled. “It does.”
“Hey, that’s what friends are for.”
