The Forgotten
Xander sat in the outer office, waiting for his appointment with the representatives of Wolfram and Heart in LA to start, going through the folder he had been sent by Giles about the people that he was supposed to be meeting.
Why Andrew had suggested to Giles that he would be the best for this job he had no idea.
Finally he was called in to the room.
As he walked in he could see that all the board members were there.
Angel sat in the middle with his people sitting to each side Lorne and Gunn to the left and Wesley and Fred to the right.
Xander took his chair and placed his folder on the table.
“What are you doing here Xander.” Angel asked.
“Giles sent me to set up a Slayer house here in LA.” Xander told them, “Not to train them but to gather them and send them on to one of our other training centres, it is his hope that this way he will avoid any more incidences like the one Andrew had to come here to deal with.”
“Why you?” Wesley asked.
“Several reasons, first Angel and I never liked each other much but when we need to we can and have worked together,” Angel nodded in agreement to that “Second I seem to be a bit of a Slayer magnet.” Xander leaned back in his chair.
Wesley sat forward in his chair in surprise. “Explain.”
Xander nodded to him-self ‘got them’
“Wesley how many slayers would you expect a non-magical Watcher to come across wandering around Africa like a tourist in a year?”
“Somewhere between seven and seventeen.” Wesley answered.
“Try forty eight.” Xander informed him. “Every where I went they would find me. Every village, Day or night, they were crawling out of the woodwork.”
The LA team sat and thought about that for a few minuets.
“We were told that none of your people trusted us.” Gunn said starring at Xander.
Xander sat forward in the chair. “How honest do you want me to be here?”
“Sweetie it might be best if you’re completely honest with us.” Lorne answered for everyone.
“Ok, I can only speak for myself. I mostly trust you, but not the organisation or its motives, that can easily change.”
“Fine I think we can work with that, Thank you for coming Xander we will let you know if we come across any slayers if you leave your contact details.” Angel got to his feet interacting an end to the meeting.
“Oh Angel,” Xander called after him “ I may hate you but I’m glad to see that they managed to fix your arms after your encounter with that Slayer.”
“Oh that was Spike not Angel” Fred piped up.
Xander dropped the folder.
“What did you say?”
“That it was Spike not Angel.” Fred replied softly.
“But…but Spike died. At Sunnydale, Spike’s been dead for over a year.”
“He came back about six months ago but he’s only been corporeal for about four months.” Fred answered.
Xander looked down at his folder.
“Oh.” Xander sat heavily in the chair.
“No one told me.” He said softly.
“I don’t think he wanted anyone from Sunnydale to know Sweetie.” Lorne told him gently.
“I see,” Xander sat in silence for a few moments.
“Could you give him a letter for me?” He asked Lorne.
“Sure Sweetie.”
Xander pulled out paper and pen and wrote a quick note. Pulling a Knife from his boot, he cut a strip of leather from his wrist and put it all in an envelope and sealed it. Handing it to Lorne he walked slowly from the office, blood dripping from his arm where he had cut it.
