AN: I wasn't going to post this until tomorrow but all the lovely reviews made me do it. See reviewing does work. This story is going to be a six chapter shot ::winks::. After which there will be another one waiting and possibly in the future the sequel Oil. The album mentioned in this chapter is by no means a rec by me but if you like it: Cool! I've never heard a song from it. Sorry for the cliffhanger but rest asured more will come. ::winks again::

Buffy had dressed meticulously and very goal oriented. Just like she had been acting since she had made her choice a month ago. She sat at the bar of the Desert Villa far into the shadows but still with a clear view of the lobby through a windowed wall between the two. She hoped the vampires would not spot her there and that they attributed the fact that they sensed her close to her being in her hotel room instead of the bar.
She was nervous as hell. It was very easy to have this all figured out in her head but now she would have to have the conversation with real live participants. That was if they showed up because if they didn't ? Not going there right now!
Buffy had been trying to deal with her ambiguous feelings after the last battle. She marveled at her newfound freedom but at the same time felt the pain of the loss of the vampire that she had just started to really see. Then the news of Spike's appearance came through the Watchers' grapevine. His new found solid state was a gossip topic that spread even faster than the wind.
She was pulled out of her musings by the appearance of two gorgeous vampires. Right at the stroke of seven.

Not wanting to give the other even an inch of advantage they entered the lobby and walked over to the desk together, arriving there at exactly the same time. The girl at the counter looked them up and down, giving them both her best come hither smile before asking what she could possibly do to make them happy. Their response was simultaneous: "Room 58".
At that the girl looked extremely disappointed but tried to stay professional. "Ah, yes. You are expected. Please continue on to the fifth floor. It is the third door on your left when you exit the elevator."
They didn't even nod her goodbye.

The room really was a suite which consisted of a living room, one bedroom and a bathroom. The balcony ran across the entire span of the suite and could be accessed through a pair of sliding doors. All the suite was decorated in soft green and cream colors, even down to the pillows on the couches and the quilted bedcover. The dining table held a chilled bottle of champagne and strawberries with cream but also 3 chilled beers and warm Buffalo wings. The radio was playing songs from 'The Exploding Hearts' by Guitar Romantic.
It was also devoid of Buffy.

She knew she was risking the hotel's furniture by leaving them in the room together so long. However it gave her a chance to pull herself together now that she was sure they had come. She hoped they would just take a beer and wait for her.
She rode up in the elevator and felt every step towards her room's door like it was a mile and yet too soon she stood outside the door, knowing perfectly well that they could sense her.
