Disclaimer:
I do not own Buffy the Vampire Slayer (BtVS), nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Chapter Two
I saw this excellent movie on the Sundance channel recently. It was a British film from the late nineties, which centered around the secret, homosexual relationship of two teenaged boys. One shy and sweet, the other popular and athletic. I wondered how that might translate in Buffyverse. So her it is. A William/Xander story.
REAL
Chapter Two
William lay on his bed reliving the previous afternoon’s events in his mind. Though he was no virgin, he felt that yesty’s y’s encounter had been special. His new lover, Lindsey, had been so worldly and wise. He was also kind and gentle when he took him.
Will had had his share of nasty meetings with clumsy drunks and college punks out for a bit of fun. Not that he slept around. In truth, William wasn’t all that experienced. He hand participated in above the clothing groping sessions, and had given as well as received a hand job or two. But Lindsey was the first man to go down on him. Remembering the event nearly caused William to have an orgasm right there and then. He probably would have too if it weren’t for the simple fact that his very best friend was lying beside him.
Faith had been Williams friend since day one of Mrs. Daly’s Pre-Kindergarten class so many years ago. William Giles had been introduced to the rest of the class desperately clinging to his stepmother’s skirt with one hand, while sucking on the ring finger of his other hand.
“Look at the big baby,” had been Cordelia Chase‘s instant reaction.
“Yeah! Why‘s he hangin‘ onta that lady?” Harmony Kendall instantly chimed in. Although secretly she thought he was kind of cute. Just like Goldilocks in that story about the bears Mrs. Daly read to us. Ceptin he‘s a boy and Goldilocks wuz a girl. Maybe he could be a bear. A little Blondiebear. Harmony thought to herself.
“Hey Blondiebear! Why‘s you hangin‘ onta that lady for?” Harmony yelled from across the room. “Harmony Kendall!” Mrs. Daly admonished. “We do not call other people names! His name is William. And this nice woman is his mother, Olivia Giles.”
“Yeah right!” This muffled remark was made by Riley Finn, a rather tall tow headed five year old dressed in camouflage pants and a matching olive gre-shi-shirt.
“Excuse me Riley,” Mrs., Daly said. “Do you have something that you would like to say out loud?” Everyone turned to Riley.
Buffy Summers was a pretty little blond who had been playing Barbie’s with Willow Rosenberg, a little red haired girl who quite frankly reminded William of an elf. Buffy looked on anxiously.
That new boy better not get Riley in trouble wif the teacher.
While Mrs. Daly had her focus on Riley, Buffy who had attracted the attention of William, stuck out her tongue at the new student. Poor little William was shaking in his shoes. Olivia bent to pry the little boys fingers from her skirt.
“William, Honey, it’s alright.” She tried to sound convincing. “Everyone looks so friendly. I’m sure that you’ll find some new mates in no time.”
William’s huge blue eyes rapidly filled with tears which threatened to fall the moment that his mum left the room.
“The baby’s going to cry.” This comment came from a brawny brunette who sat surrounded by other little boys on the rug with intersecting roads and buildings, meant for rolling toy cars and trucks on. His buddies instantly began to laugh.
Oh enough! A skinny, tomboyish girl with long brown hair boldly marched over to the two adults and the new kid. Once she was within speaking range she stuck out her hand to the shy little boy.
“Hi! My name’s Faith. What’s yours?” William warily shook the little girls hand.
“W-w-William.”
Faith smiled. He talks funny. “ Well Will-yum, come play wif me.” She grabbed his hand again and pulled him over to the legos.
“You talks funny. Where ya from” Faith asked curtly.
William had never met anyone like this girl in his life before. “I’m f-from England.” he responded. Faith seemed to consider this before asking her next question. She placed her hands on her hips and stared at William through squinted eyes.
“England, huh? That near California?
William giggledo. Io. It’s across the ocean.” Faith was impressed.
“Really? So yous had ta fly here or what?
William had to take a moment to figure out what this strange girl was saying. I talk funny. That’s the cat calling the kettle black. Having an English professor for a father had considerably increased the child’s vocabulary.
“Yes. Me mum, Da’, Uncle Ethan and me cousins Dru and Wes, all took a big plane to the States bout a month ago. And that was how they had met.
William and Faith had been almost inseparable ever since. No one knew William better than she did. In fact, thanks to an embarrassing crush that she had on William in the tenth grade, Faith knew the truth about William’s sexual orientation. When she had confessed her true feelings to her friend, he had in turn confessed the truth about his preference of boys to her. They had shared a good cry, followed by a good laugh over a veggie pizza and a Brad Pitt movie.
Yes, Faith and William knew each other inside and out. Which was how she knew now that something big was up with her pal. She turned on her side and gave her best friend her most evil stare. William looked over at Faith and shuddered.
“What?” he exclaimed innocently, with just a hint of irritation.
“What what?” Faith mocked. “Dude. Something is up. Spill!”
William tried for a moment to maintain his innocent demeanor, however he was near bursting to share his news with someone else. And because there was really no one else who knew his secret, William chose to tell Faith the truth.
“I am in love!”
