Chapter two

Chapter two

(Mandy’s POV)

I was thoroughly enjoying lying with my arms around Katherine, listening to her steady breathing. I love watching her sleep, nearly as much as making love to her. Unfortunately her sleep is usually full of nightmares, filled with images of her family being taken from her. Of the pain she deals with every waking moment. I pulled her closer to me, so I could bury my face in her soft brown hair, drinking in the scent of her honey and lemon shampoo. Mixed with the smell of sex and magic, Clow magic. I looked down at the heavy silver chain around Katherine’s neck, and at the pendant that had brought us so much pain. Yet it had saved our lives countless times.

I woke up about an hour ago, not really needing sleep. If I left Katherine alone she’d sleep through the whole weekend. But being Friday night, I wanna go out and show Sunnydale my fiancée! Even if that means using the Illusion card, to hide us from anyone who could blab to Snyder, that I’m engaged (I still can’t believe that!!!) to a student.

To both Katherine’s and my annoyance the phone shattered our moment of tranquillity. I reached over the groaning Card captor to pick up the cordless receiver.

“Hello?”

“Hi, Mandy? It’s Buffy”

“Oh, Hello Buffy!”

“I was wondering if you and Katherine wanted to go to the Bronze tonight?”

“Yeah ok... Just one question, what's the Bronze?”

“Oh sorry, it’s the only decedent club in Sunnydale.”

“That sounds like fun, what time?”

“Why don’t I call round at 8, so I can show you where it is?”

“Yeah sure. We live at number 8 Benson Lane, apartment 4. Do you know where that is?”

“Yeah that’s not far from where I live actually. So I’ll walk round and we can meet the others at the Bronze.”

“Ok well, we’ll see you then. Thanks Buffy.”

“Ok bye.”

“Bye”

I hung up the phone and looked down at Katherine, to find her looking directly at me.

“What?”

“How’d she get our number?” she asked defensively.

“I gave it to Mr Giles before I left the school. You know so they could get a hold of us.”

“Oh okay, what’s the Bronze? Some sort of coffee shop?” she asked closing her eyes again.

“It’s a club, Buffy wants us to go tonight. She’s going to call round at 8. So don’t go back to sleep, I know you’ve had a long day but its already 7pm.”

“I used the Light card last night, it kinda drained my energy. So can we not stay out dancing all night?” she asked whilst stifling a yawn.

“Yeah sure, I want to go shopping tomorrow anyway. So I want you awake by noon.” I couldn’t help but grin at Katherine’s disgusted expression. She hated shopping, especially whenwentwent into girlie shops. Her idea of shopping was spending hours in video game stores.

“Great just how I love to spend my Saturday, shopping.” She stated sarcastically. “But for you I suppose I can cope.” I stuck my tongue out in response. She just smirked and got out of bed, grabbed her clothes and went into our en suite bedroom.

About 20mins later I came into the den to find Katherine rummaging through an old footlocker that was full of old books and charms, Clow Reed had given her.

“What you doing, other than making a mess?” I asked cheekily, whilst sitting down next to Dredan on the black leather couch. He was sprawled out over almost the whole thing, so his head ended up in my lap.

“Huh? Oh… I’m sure Reed gave me an old charmed ring, along with all this other junk. He said it was extremely precious and that I should one day give it to someone I thought was precious… Ah here it is.” She said slamming the locker shut then walking over to me, holding an open purple velvet box.

“Wow it’s beautiful…” I said taken back by the beauty of the gothic silver ring. It was in the shape of an open rose with a dark blue crystal set in the centre.

“I’m guessing it’s magical so it should fit you, an an engagement ring… u-unless you’d like me to go and buy a more modern one.” She asked suddenly finding her newly polished boots very interesting. I was seeing a glimpse of the shy girl I first dated.

“No. I love this one, it’s perfect… thank you.” I answered while standing to hug her. I couldn’t believe she’d give me something so special. No shop bought ring could ever be as good. I was nuzzling and planting kisses on her neck, when I realised she was crying.

I pulled away slightly and was surprised to see her smiling at me.

“Sweetie what’s the matter? Why are you crying?” I asked placing my hand on her cheek. She leant into my touch as she answered.

“Its just that I should be thanking you… I mean I’m the luckiest girl in the world. I’m crying because I’m happy. Well that’s an understatement, anyways I wanna thank you for being there for me in so many ways... and for saying yes… I love Mandy.

I was in total awe to say the least, because this girl, no woman had made me so happy. I could only smile as I answered in the only way I could.

“I love you too Katy.” I watched as she placed the ring on my finger, a loving smile still on her beautiful face.

“We’d better get ready, coz Buffy will be her in a minute.” She said just as the buzz went. “Okay she’s already here, ya ready?” she asked wiping her face and glasses.
