Visionary Kiss II 14

Visionary Kiss II 14
INT. IMHOTEP'S CHAMBER - DAY

O'Connell pulled with all his might, Jonathan did his best to help him and it started to give way.

Slowly.

Slowly.

Slooooowly.

Without warning, it popped open and the most hideous, maggot infested, rotten corpse imaginable sprung up. Evelyn and both men let out a scream. All of them jumping back, scared to death. Only Willow in a dark corner looked unafraid, instead she ed led like she was in pain.

The lovely man she had known, now looked like the `Elephant Man` of corpses, twisted and deformed. The years had not been kind. A sickening sound could be heard as he slumped back into his coffin.

INT. ANUBIS' CHAMBER - DAY

Henderson and Daniels started to pry at the lid of the wooden chest. Beni and the Egyptologist watched all this in the background. Beni, sweating buckets, started backing away, his whole being filled with fear.

"The curse....beware the curse!" he turned and bolted from the chamber.

Daniels spit to the ground," Stupid superstitious bastard."

The seal broke, a black vapor burst from within.Everybody vanished into the strange cloud.

INT. IMHOTEP'S CHAMBER - DAY

O'Connell, Evelyn and Jonathan slowly followed Willow and carefully looked back inside the coffin. All of them were crept out.

"Is he supposed to look like that?" Rick looked at Evey, sure that she would have the answer to his question.

"No. I've never seen a mummy look like this. He's, he's still..."

"Juicy?" Jonathan winkled his nose, it was creepy.

"Yes. He's more than four thousand years old and still decomposing."

"And look at this." Rick pointed at the inside of the coffin lid, where there were fingernails scratched and dried blood all over the inside.

"Oh my god, he was buried alive," this sent chills through everyone. Evelyn leaned closer." And he left a message."

Willow made a few steps away from the group and the mummy, she had already read what the man she was here to save wrote down. She felt a short pang of guilt and knew that this time she would do everything to save him. Whatever needed to be done she would do it.

"It says: 'Death is only the beginning" Evelyn looked at the others, her brother shivered, Rick just looked around, as if he was searching for something.

"Where's my gun?"

"What are you going to do? Shoot him? Too late for that don't you think?" they could see that Jonathan was amused about his own little joke.

"If he decides to wakes up, hell yes!"

INT. ANUBIS' CHAMBER - DAY

The vapor had finally started to settle. The Americans had their guns aimed at the chest, as if it could help them with what ever was in it. The Egyptologist slowly stepped up, reached inside, and lifted out the heavy burlap bag.

Everyone's eyes widened in excitement as he stuck his hand into the bag and slowly pulled out the black book of the dead, which was made of stone. The book that when it was touched by the hand of a living sent waves of energy out that only a few would notice.

"I have heard ancient stories told of this book, but I never truly believed it existed. This, good gentlemen, is a most priceless treasure."

Henderson kicked the sandy floor in anger, "I wouldn't trade ya it for a brass spittoon!"

"Yeah! It's supposed to be made outta pure gold!"

Daniel kicked the chest, it broke open, unfolding to reveal a lower compartment. Inside, they could see five Jewel encrusted canopic Jars, one of them was shattered and without jewels.

EXT. BASE CAMP - NIGHT

The two camps had joined together after the events of the last night they all felt safer this way. Rick and Beni were roasting chunks of hairy meat over a fire. The British man winkled his nose, disgusted by the smell.

"What is this stuff? It smells like our late friend, the warden."

O'Connell and Beni both grinned at each other what made Jonathan look horrified at the meat, "You did not!? .... We're not!?"

"Rat gizzards. They smell bad and taste worse, but that's the best the desert has to offer." Rick said while he watched the gloating Americans sit down, fondling their jeweled jars.

"Say O'Connell, whadaya think these honey's'll fetch back home?"

"We hear you gentlemen found yerselves a nice gooey mummy. Congratulations."

"Ya know if ya dry him out, you can sell him for firewood."

Now that they all had given there best the Americans laughed. Evelyn walked up, sat down and dropped a pile of big dusty bug skeletons onto the ground.

"Scarabs, flesh eaters, I found them inside our friend's coffin. They can stay alive for years living off the flesh of a corpse, or in this case ........" she shrugged, looking down onto the roasting meat, to then jump a little as she heard Willow spoke behind her back.

"fhed.hed."

The men all starred at the bug skeletons, disgusted.

"Are you saying somebody threw these things in with our guy, and they slowly ate him alive?"

"Very Slowly." After this words the group went silent for a short while all lost in the pictures their minds produced.

"He certainly was not a popular fellow when they planted him." Jonathan stated.

"Must of got a little too frisky with the Pharaoh's daughter." Rick looked up to the still standing Willow, who only looked back, her eyes blank, there was nothing and it confused him.

"According to my readings, our friend suffered the HOM_DAI, the worst of all ancient Egyptian curses. One reserved for only the most evil blasphemers. In all of my research, I've never read of this curse actually having been performed."

O'Connell was again charmed by the way Evelyn talked about all this, her face began to glow, her eyes sparkled and so he felt the need to add a little remark," That bad huh?"

"Yes, they never used it because they feared it so. It's written, that if a victim of the HOM-DAI should ever arise, he would bring with him the ten plagues of Egypt." Evey stopped as she watched Willow walk away from the group, she seemed to vanish into the shadows and then she was gone.

"The ten plagues? ... You mean all ten plagues."

"Like what that Moses guy did to that Pharaoh guy?" Beni added, his eyes full of fear.

"That's one way of putting it."

Jonathan looked at the meat, "Let's see, there was frogs, flies, locusts...."

Burns rubbed his jar, "Hail and fire."

Henderson scratched his head, "The sun turning black."

Daniels full of fear added, "Water turning to blood."

Jonathan seemed to think about it as a little game, but this was nothing new, "And my personal favorite: people covered in boils and sores."

All the men shared nervous looks, really spooked. Evelyn just laughed at them and then pulled the closest stick out of the fire. She would never be able to understand how grown men could believe in something like curses.

"Fried gizzard anyone?"

EXT. CAMP - LATER THAT NIGHT

Having just freshened up for bed, Evey exited the temple and stepped past the sleeping Diggers. She spotted the Egyptologist, his jeweled canopic jar snug under one arm, the black book looseer ter the other.

She stared at the book, nervously biting her lip, then she sneaked over, carefully stole it and quickly tiptoed away.

Lying on some blankets by the campfire, O'Connell rolled over and saw Evelyn, sitting wide-eyed and excited like a child at Christmas. He glanced down at the book.

"You sure you outta be playin', around with that?"

"It's just a book, no harm ever came from a book." She opened the cover. The fire flickered, the couple shared a nervous look, then Evey shrugged and started reading.

"Ahm kum Ra. Ahm kum Dei." She continued reading the book aloud in ancient Egyptian.
