When happily ever after isnt forever
~Present Day: Skye~
Sitting in the car, carefully scanning the roads up ahead she watched for the tigers. She thought about the last couple weeks. Things had made so much more sense before she had met Ryan. Things had been so much easier; she had her friends her family and a boyfriend. ‘Speaking of boyfriend I should call Jamie’
Looking over at her brother she watched him carefully, he seemed tense. That was nothing new though. Horus was always on guard, always ready. Sniffing lightly she caught the faint scent of the tigers.
She looked at her Mother, or at least the back of her head. She didn’t get the woman sometimes. She knew she would be territorial but she didn’t expect her to be so hostile with Ryan. She knew as well as anyone else the laws between Skin Walker breeds but it made no sense. She knew tiger and wolf was in her blood. So it made no sense.
“Mom, what’s your issue with Ryan? I mean…I know she’s tiger but so was your mom.”
Raya stiffened. “She doesn’t smell right Skye.”
“What do you mean? She’s tiger she’s going to smell different mother.” Skye was confused and from the look on Horus’s face, she wasn’t the only one.
“You’ve never smelled tiger before. Ryan doesn’t smell like tiger…neither does the boy. They smell….wrong.” Raya didn’t know how to explain it. It was just something was off about the two and it made her hair stand on end.
“So you’re going to be all scary wolf because they don’t smell right?” Skye got what her mother was saying but it didn’t mean she didn’t agree with it.
“Why do you care so much Skye? I mean I understand she saved you but why does…you like her?” Raya exclaimed, they all jolted when she unexpectedly hit the breaks. Turning she glared back at her daughter. “You cant like her Skye. She’s not safe we know nothing about her or her people.”
“You can’t tell me not to like someone and I don’t like her like that I just…don’t want anything bad to happen.” Skye slunk lower in her seat; she knew they knew she was lying. But like hell was she going to admit to liking the tiger…not when Horus was smirking and her mother was starting at her like she had told her she wanted to marry a vampire.
Suddenly her mother whipped around and Skye only had a moment to digest the image of a werewolf launching themselves at the hood of the car a second before the entire car jumped. Grasping her seatbelt she watched as the werewolf burst through the windshield before Horus launched himself at the werewolf and they both went flying out of the car.
Skye quickly undid her seatbelt as she and Raya jumped out of the car and suddently realized they were surrounded by werewolves. Skye sniffed and realized they were all male.
Raya must have made the same realization because she turned back to her daughter. “Get in the car NOW” Wordlessly Skye climbed back in the car and shut the door.
Twisting over the back seat she pulled out her mom’s weapons bag, shifting through she found a dagger that was dipped in silver.
Watching as her brother and mother wrestled and fought six werewolves.’ Werewolves can’t shift in daylight? What the hells is going on?’
Scanning the street she saw something that nearly made her sick. There on the far side of the street was a small tennis shoe. It was Remy’s.
Climbing out the car she sprinted to the shoe. Picking it up she caught the scent and scanned the trees. Following the scent she ran through the brush, turning when she heard a werewolf male chasing her down she picked up the pace only to look in front of her again to see a large white tiger charging her. Gasping she dropped to the ground as the tiger launched itself over her and collided with the wolf, turning she watched as the two grappled.
Turning around she saw a barefoot Remy racing towards her. Grabbing her arm she followed him up and they ran back towards the street. She turned to see that Ryan had killed the werewolf and was racing after them.
When they hit the street she saw her Horus standing over a dead werewolf and her Mother in a panic calling out her name.
“MOTHER” Skye felt bad for the look of pained relief on her mothers face.
“Skye don’t ever scare me like that again.” Raya said as she walked over and hugged her daughter close.
“I’m sorry Mother.” Skye felt a little awkward in the hug but she waited for her mother to pull away and look at the tigers.
“Well…we were coming after you to give you a ride home.” Raya watched the two tigers as they looked at one another and walked towards the car.
Turning back Skye and Horus carefully picked up the bodies of the werewolves and threw them into the forests before walking back to the car. Skye stopped when she saw Horus sitting stiffly next to a now human Ryan and Remy. Smiling Skye climbed into the passenger seat and waited impatiently for them to arrive at Gypsies.

~Six Month Ago: Buffy~
Sitting at the stream she watched as Jaeger and Axel played in the water. Right now Jaeger had her skinny arms wrapped around Axels middle and was slowly dipping him into the water, it was funny to watch because whenever his toes would touch the water he would shriek and Jaeger would pull him out before repeating the move.
Laughing when Jaeger lost he footing and they stumbled into the water and they both sat up and spluttered and glared at her.
Turning when she heard her wife approaching her smile disappeared at the serious expression on her mates face. Something was wrong. Lonnie had charcoal all over her face….someone had died.
“Lonnie…what happened?” Buffy asked softly when her mate sat beside her.
“She’s dead. Old Mother died Buffy.” Lonnie said that so softly that Buffy was sure she would have misheard it without her slayer hearing.
“…What? When?” Buffy had known Old Mother was sick, hell everyone did but she had seemed to be doing better.
“This morning. Shaman says it wasn’t painful…she went in her sleep. But now…now after the mourning ceremony…Sharja will be Old Mother.”
Buffy felt a small coil of dread build in her stomach. Looking out to her children she wondered what the future had in store.
Ducking her head she gently laced her fingers between Lonnie’s and prayed for strength.

Lonnie sat beside her mate for a moment more before standing and walking to her children. Bending down she picked up Axels small loincloth and pulled him onto her lap as she dressed him. Looking up she managed a small smile when Jaeger showed her a bear claw she had found.
Taking the claw she looked it over. “Would you like me to make this a necklace for you?” Lonnie asked the girl. Smiling at the excited expression on her daughters face she pushed away her fears of Sharja as Old Mother.
It was as the spirits intended. Nothing was without there reasons. She had always been devout and loyal to the spirits but why Sharja?
That was what she didn’t understand. She knew that very few of her fellow tribesman were comfortable with Sharja as Old Mother.
Sitting down she looked over at her mate, seeing that Buffy was staring off into the distance obviously deep in thought about this.
Turning back she forced smile to her face as she grabbed Jaeger and tickled and blew a raspberry on her stomach. Smiling at the giggling child.
