PLANS
The next morning Buffy has the whole gang including Angel in her room. She’s going over her plan of attack. “Last night The First came to me. It was gloating. It kept saying how I’m alone in this fight. I don’t think it knows Kennedy’s the new Slayer. It changed into me, which in itself is creepy, but it made a big deal about the Slayer law. ‘She alone’ but since my death there are two. Plus I have two vampires with souls a witch several Potential Slayers and a couple of humans. I think we need to fight this as one on two fronts. Tomorrow morning Kennedy, Spike, Angel and I will go into the Hellmouth. We’ll fight the Turok-Hans there. The rest of you will be in groups around the school, killing those who get past. We’ll take the fight to them. What do you think?” They all look at her like she’s nuts. “That depends. Are you kidding?” Xander asks. “You don't think it's a good idea?” “I think it’s great. We have the scythe and that amulet. You’re right. We’re gonna win.” Kennedy says. Angel and Spike nod their agreement. The rest of the group soon follows in their agreement. “Come on. Let's go assemble the
cannon fodder.” Anya says as she starts to leave. “We're not calling them that, sweetie.” “Not to their faces…what am I,
insensitive?”
They call every single person in the house into the lounge room. There is just enough room for Buffy to pace a little. Everyone is watching Buffy as she speaks, “I hate this. I hate being here. I hate that you have to be here. I hate that there's evil, that it's growing, and I hate that I was chosen to fight it. I wish, a whole lot of the time, that I hadn't been. But this isn't about wishes. This is about choices. I never had one. I was chosen. And I accept that. I'm not asking you to accept anything. I'm asking you to make your own
choice. I believe we can beat this evil…not when it comes, not after its army is ready, but now. Tomorrow morning I'm opening the Seal. I'm going down into the Hellmouth and I'm going to finish it once and for all. I've got strong allies: warriors, charms, sorcerers, and I'll need them all. But I'll also need you. Every
single one of you. So now you're asking yourself, ‘What makes this different? What makes us anything more than a bunch of girls getting picked off one by one?’ I know you don’t have the same strength as Kennedy and I. But together you are strong. Tomorrow you Willow, Xander, Anya, Dawn and Andrew will fight together against those who get through us. We will fight this. And we will win.” The whole group gives Buffy a cheer. All agreeing with Buffy’s plan.
Sunnydale High had been abandoned, just like the rest of the town for some days now. So when the group went to block some exits they were welcomed by silence. They worked in small groups blocking most of the exits. They want to make it so when the seal is open and the Turoks get out, they only have so many ways out. Giving the gang the advantage. Everyone worked quickly and by nightfall the battleground was set.
That night everyone was in their own little groups trying to be busy. Trying to get their minds off of the fight ahead. Willow was going over all of the information that Angel brought with him. Unfortunately most they already knew. She found only one interesting thing. Willow found Buffy and Kennedy outside training, “Buffy. I found something of interest. While you fight the Turok-Han The First will start to become corporeal. If it wins it will be corporeal. So try not to let that happen. Other than that nothing.” “Thanks Will. You should go to bed. Big day and all.” Willow watches as the two start to train again. Becoming tired from just watching them she takes Buffy’s advice, “Night guys. Don’t stay up all night.” “We wont.” Kennedy stops fighting suddenly, “You want to sleep.” “I don’t think I can. I’m too nervous. Too anxious.” “Are you scared?” “Terrified. I’m afraid that this will destroy me.” “I'll be with you. I wont let you die.” “You can’t protect me from everything.” “This may have escaped your keen notice, but I'm kind of a brat. I've sort of always gotten my way. So you're gonna make it through this, no matter how dark it gets. Because now... you're my way.” Kennedy pulls Buffy into a kiss. Buffy hugs her for a moment then pulls back to a fighting stance, “Let’s train some more.”
In the dinning room Angel, Spike, Xander, Andrew and Amanda are sitting at the table surrounded by a pile of books. There are plans and a map, which they are referring to. They are tired but are not ready to pack it in. Angel speaks, “I've gotten turned around. You're here.” “By the pillar, yeah. I'm protecting this area.” Xander answers. Angel continues, “That puts me here. By the door. Demons around the perimeter... right. So I open the door.” Andrew is reading from an old rulebook. He reads aloud, “You go through the door... you are confronted by Trogdor the Burninator.” Angel becomes annoyed, “Fuck it. Fight.” He rolls a dice. Andrew continues explaining, “Adios to five hit points. Trogdor has badly wounded you.” “What about my bag of illusions?” “Illusions? Against a Burninator? Silly, silly vampire.” Amanda moves some pieces on the map, “I invoke a time flux on Trogdor.” Andrew becomes huffy, “Step down, girlfriend, you can't just…” Amanda continues, “Ninth level sorcerer, and I carry the emerald chalice. Trogdor is frozen in time, deal with it.” Xander laughs at Andrews’s predicament, “Smack down on red riding hood! This could get ugly.” Angel and Spike are bored and annoyed. Spike rants, “Could it possibly get uglier? I used to be a world-feared vampire. Now I'm a wounded dwarf with the mystical strength of a doily. I wish I could just sleep.” Amanda says, “What kind of person could sleep on a night like this?” Xander looks to Anya who is sleeping on the table. “Only the crazy ones.”
Upstairs, Dawn has all of the Potentials in her room. Some are in sleeping bags; most are just sitting looking at Dawn. Dawn is telling them all stories. “And the Master grabbed Buffy from
behind and bit her, she tried to move but he was too strong, he fed on her blood and he tossed her in the water, cackling insanely as the bubbles rose around her and she slowly drowned to death.” The Potentials are becoming upset. Vi asks, “Do you have any other stories?” Dawn continues, “She gets up again, it's very romantic. Guys, you gotta stop worrying. It's B. Sh. She always saves the day.” Only Anya slept that night. Buffy and Kennedy continued to train. Angel, Spike, Xander, Andrew and Amanda play Dungeons and Dragons all night. Willow watched Buffy and Kennedy from her room as well as listened to Dawn. And Dawn continued to tell the Potentials about Buffy’s victories.
