The Coming Storm
Wesley closed the final book. Everything was ready and now all he had to was wait for them to arrive, he threw the bones of Sirianni onto the table. They foretold when evil would enter. The colors of the bones turn bright red of the two and the four. 24 hours? Wesley thought and heard a muffled cry from his captive.
“I’m sorry, it says 24 hours. That’s when they arrive, oh wait a moment, that’s minutes. 24 minutes, you’ll have to pardon me, I’m a little rusty. I think death has dulled my senses. You know I never meant for this to happen. After Fred...died I thought that I didn’t have anything to live for. The Scoobies wouldn’t help us and do I have left of her was a shell, no soul, nothing. I began to go little mad, and then I remembered when Angel took back the day to save Buffy.” Another mumble of confusion, “Don’t interrupt. So I thought I would travel back, save her, be with her, I poured myself into it. In a checked every spell and incantation, time travel wasn’t easy but being able to change the reality was impossible. That I hit upon it, a spell that would send a person back and they could alter the fabric of time.
But they were bars to it, you wouldn’t survive if you were human and the really difficult part, you couldn’t be someone currently living in the time. Then Xander called us after Fred and told me that he owed Angel a debt. It hit me like a ton of bricks, Xander, what if Xander was a vampire? He was never in our time when he wasn’t human. I told him of my plan while he was in Africa. He said no at first then I sweetened the deal with the idea of bringing back Cordelia as well. Angel would have Cordelia, Xander has Buffy, and they would finally have an end to it. So he agreed, and then the only one thing was missing.”
Wesley looked at his watch, 15 minutes, Xander better hurry, he thought. He began to get closer to his captive, stuck in an enchanted casing, they had tears running down their face.
“I know you didn’t want to hear all this, but I thought you deserve to know what this is all for. Because the last ingredient is something I’ve never actually used but I always wanted to try.” Wesley stuck his head into the enchanted casings and marked her head.
“An inter-dimensional key,” He said and that was when Dawn started to scream, but no one could hear her. “Please don’t scream you only hurt yourself.”
And Willow felt Xander’s breath intermingling with her’s. She felt his body heat, and she felt an unnatural urge to touch him.
“Xander what if you done?” She asked to she touched his chest.
“It’s only a little spell; trust me I’ve gotten a lot better at this. Wesley gave me a few pointers.” Xander told her but he knew she wasn’t listening. She was too busy running her fingers along his arms.
“Did you do this to Buffy?”
“Of course not, but funny story, it’s more potent the more you love the person.” Willow looked up into his eyes.
“Crap.” She said and Xander smiled and leaned down to kiss her, she didn’t fight his lips, as she let him hold her. Willow could feel it, the control was slipping. She was losing it, as Xander touched her flesh. His fingernails grazed her back. Her body burned, as she ran her fingers through his hair and she felt her strength slipping away. Her body felt angry, free, as she felt Willow slide away and the darkness within her takeover her like a cancer. Xander felt her change, he pulled away and she smiled at him.
“Longtime no see.” Willow said and Xander curled a piece of her black hair around his finger.
“I love you Willow,” He said and for a moment her dark eyes looked confused. Then his face turned before she could stop him. Xander drank her, he filled himself with her blood, and the power almost overwhelmed him. He listened as her heart beat became less and less. He watched as her body changed, her hair became the beautiful deep red he loved, as she drank more he could feel her body letting go. A tear rolled down her cheek, her nails dug into his flesh but there was nothing she could do to stop him. He slowly lowered her onto the ground, there wasn’t much left of her. He laid her down on the floor and kneeled down next to her. He watched her life ebb of her. He moved a piece of hair out of her face, and she looked at him.
“Xander,” She breathed as her eyes got darker in more vacant. Xander couldn’t think of anything he just watched her fall deeper and deeper until there was nothing left.
“ARGGHH!” He screamed at the top of his lungs, Willow’s gone, he thought to himself, and he he had taken her away. Xander tried to catch his breath, he tried to stop crying but for a moment he just couldn’t. The tears just wouldn’t stop. Xander felt Willow’s power rolling inside of him, the power that he needed to save them all. Xander felt like it had been an eternity but he knew it had only been a few moments. Then he got up, wiped his tears and his mouth as he slowly made his way upstairs.
Wesley slowly came down the stairs with a knife to Dawn’s throat. He moved slowly, he knew they could smell him, and her, the fear that she felt, it was like sending out a radar signal. He knew they were coming the only thing that he could hope was that his protector would get their before they would. Alyria walked slowly in front of him she looked like she slide down the stairs he watched her move slowly, she was the sexist thing he had ever seen. She looked to the left quickly and Wesley followed her eyes. Xander was slowly stalking up the stairs but Wesley also knew that the others were coming. The sky outside turned dark, as Xander took his place in front of Wesley along side Allyria.
“DAWN!” Wesley heard Spike yell as he ran into the foyer and Angel was trailing behind him. Spike stopped, everything was wrong, that was the first thing he thought. Xander protected her, why would he let Wesley hold a knife to Dawn’s throat?
Stupid, thought, Spike, because like every so called knight in shining armor, he had a price, Spike didn’t know what it was but Wesley must have paid it. He wondered for a second if it was giving up Spike and Angel. But he thought better of, and right now all he wanted to was destroy them all with his bare hands.
Angel was helping to walk Buffy into the foyer when he saw them. Standing together, Buffy looked up at Xander, with her broken and bruised body and started at him.
“What happened to you?” Xander asked and he moved closer to her and lightly caressed her face. Before Angel knew what was happening Buffy had left his arms and she was now resting in Xander’s.
She cried into his chest, not noticing that a moment before Xander was helping to hold her sister hostage.
“He’s dead Xander, he can’t be dead.” Buffy said as she held herself close to him.
“Whose dead Buffy?” Xander asked, but he felt it, he knew who was dead, something her body when he held her, told him that the man that he saw as a father, Rupert Giles who he always tried to believe had turned him into the kind of man that Buffy would want for a husband was dead. He tried to hold on, he tried to breathe. Then he heard someone scream.
“NO!” Dawn screamed as she crumpled under the weight of her grief dropped to the ground. Wesley held her as well as he could. Buffy looked over at Wesley and Dawn.
“What’s going on?” She asked and she looked up at Xander’s face and all she saw was sadness.
“I’m so sorry Buffy.” He said simply and she looked at him, searching his face for answers, she found it when she felt him leave her arms. The ground began to shake as Xander stood in front of Wesley. Dawn stood up as debris began to fall, Xander’s eyes suddenly went dark, and only one other person she had ever known could make their eyes go dark like that.
“Ego dico in apello Retnac tribuo salus!” He yelled and his hands slowly came over his head, and she saw the air moved around his hands as he moved them. His hands clapped together and it sounded like a thunderclap. The shaking stopped and his eyes returned to their normal color.
