Chapter 14

Chapter 14

Six months after the fight things were becoming back to normal. Anya had her baby, a bouncing baby boy. He looked just like Xander; the two new parents were happy and very tired. Willow and Amie were looking to start their own coven and pressing for baby sitting duties. Giles returned to L.A. with Angel to help Wes with a new library of old stuffy books that they all needed at one point of the day or another. Cordy left L.A. to find a peace within herself, but returned after two months when she found that the peace she was looking for was where she left it, in L.A. with her family.

Tara and Buffy walked into the front door carrying groceries. As they walked into the dining room on their way the kitchen, Tara turned to the blonde at her side. “So do you think Dawn will be okay in the basement?”

“Oh, I think she’ll be just fine now that Faith is up moving around again. I’m still not sure if I like her down there with Faith though.”

As they walked into the kitchen they could hear Dawn’s voice coming from the basement.

“Oh…Faith…yes!” Dawn yelled.

Buffy turned to her lover, pale-faced. “We need to stop them!” she said with wide eyes.

“No, Buffy, we need to leave them alone. Dawn is growing up and she loves Faith. So where is the wrong?” She took the slayer’s arm and led her out of the room.

“Well, I guess you’re right,” Buffy grumped as they went to the couch. “Still, they are being rather noisy. We could, just this once, surprise them.” She grinned at Tara. “It would be fun!”

“I-I don’t know. Faith can be all growly when she’s mad. An-and Dawn can be evil when she’s upset,” the Wicca stuttered, so surprised by this idea of Buffy’s.

“Yes, I know, but you’ve got a slayer to protect you. Come on, let’s go.” The two women crept down the stairs, the slight noise they were making drowned out by the sounds coming from the basement room. Tara and Buffy crept up to the door. With a sudden yank, Buffy threw open the door, with the cry of “What’s going on here?” on her lips.

It was a set up. Dawn and Faith stood ready, super soakers in hand. The cries of Buffy and Tara rang out through the house. Faith yelled up the stairs after the fleeing, soaked lovers, “STOP SPYING ON US!”

Buffy ran to the sink grabbing the sprayer and shooting water at the young lovers. Tara ran to the doorway to get out of the line of fire. A big smile broke of her face as she watched her three girls. Tara now felt that the family was back together and better than ever. She shook her head and ran headlong into the water fight to help her lover!

Dawn rolls over in the small bed, her face wet with tears and the bed damp with sweat. “Fucking dream.” She gets out of bed and goes to her little bathroom to clean up. She looked in the dirty mirror. “Toughen up, girl.” After splashing water on her face, she returns to the bedroom to get dressed, pulling on her black leather pants and her tight black tank top. She grabs a black leather jacket and the last thing Faith had ever given her. She flips the stake in her hand and then slips it in the back of her pants. Walking out the door of the run down motel room she moved into shortly after Faith’s funeral, she smiled at the sight of Buffy waiting for her. “Ready to get a few?” she asks her sister.

“Sure...how are you feeling tonight?” Buffy asked, knowing the answer.

“I’m five by five!”
