Chapter 13
"Mr. Giles has told me soo much about you my dear," the dr said coming up to Buffy and holding her hands.
"That’s Giles, always the bragger," Buffy said looking into the dr's violet eyes.
* Why is it I feel so comfortable with this woman? * Buffy asked Spike in his mind.
* I dunno but I feel the same bloody way *, Spike answered.
Dr.Konack gave Buffy's hands a slight squeeze and turned to Spike.
"The vampire with the noble face," she said laying her hand on his cheek and looking into his bottomless blue eyes.
"I can see how very much you love your slayer," she added smiling and removing her hand.
Spike released the breath he realized he was holding while the small woman looked him over.
"There's no need to be nervous my children. I am here to help and help I shall," Dr. Konack said.
Buffy walked over and sat on the table while Spike walked over and stood next to her.
"Buffy I'm going to put a little amount of this blue stuff on your tummy and we are going to use an instrument to see what’s going on in there," Dr. Konack said as she applied the gel.
The images that appeared on the ultra-sound monitor shocked Buffy. She knew she was pregnant but to see a human form that was in her tummy in life was mind-boggling.
As if knowing it was being watched the baby lifted its hands and seemed to wave
at Buffy and Spike.
"Bugger me did you see that?" Spike asked Buffy.
"I did I did."
"Well it seems you are 3 months along now. You are now in your second trimester. The baby is very healthy and is growing according to its stage. The heart is strong and beating nice and even. Do you want to know the sex?" the dr asked them.
Buffy and Spike looked at one another.
"Yes," they said simultaneously. The dr smiled at their eagerness.
"You are to be the proud parents of a baby girl."
Buffy smiled and put a hand on her tummy. She turned to Spike and was shocked to see a tear running down his cheek.
"Daddy's little girl," Buffy said taking his hand.
*Daddy's little girl* Spike repeated.
The tender look in Spike's eyes didn't go unnoticed by the good doctor.
"Buffy I want you to take these pills. One every night for the duration of your pregnancy. It has all the vitamins and good stuff your body needs while you are carrying your little girl. I want to see you in 4 weeks time. In the meantime, no rough slaying and make sure you are getting plenty of rest," Dr. Konack instructed.
"You got it Doc. You hear that Buffy? Got to take it easy," Spike said.
"Buffy listen to William and let him take care of you. That’s what the men are for anyways. Go ahead and get dressed. See you in a couple of weeks," the doctor smiled as she walked out the door.
As soon as Buffy was dressed she was in Spike's arms.
"We are having a girl!" Buffy exclaimed kissing Spike.
Spike pulled back and looked into her eyes.
"Thank you Buffy. Thank you so much for giving me a child," he said tenderly touching her face.
"I love you," she whispered.
"I love you," he said his lips touching hers once again.
