“NNNNOOOOO” Buffy screamed Falling to the floor on her knees sobbing. Spike went to her and wrapped his arms around him. “Shh Buffy, I’ve got you. “Spike, I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry I did that to you.”
“Buffy s’what I deserved, luv, I was an evil soulless monster, I tried I really did, but I didn’t get it right. Not till now…”
“I remember now Spike, I remember it all how badly I treated you how much I hurt you…” She trailed off looking at the floor.”
“You know now though don’t you? Is it the same now that you know?” The powers asked. “How do you feel Buffy?” they asked in unison.
“I am not a fool…I realized it before. Not when I should have but, I remember when I … came back … from heaven, I remember when we went to fight Glory, I was falling for Spike …then I was gone…when I came back nothing was right and I tried I really did, but I couldn’t let anyone in. I realize how much Spike loves me. I knew it then but I… just, with him, I could let go. No matter how badly I treated him he still loved me, believed in my strength, and trusted the fact that I did love him but couldn’t admit it to myself let alone anyone else. Spike got that, He got me. He always has…from our first meeting till now. Even as I watched, what you say has happened before Spike knew, he was there when I needed him. He always knows. That is how much he loves me. Even at his shining moment he was thinking of me. He made my life perfect. And now here you are ruining it.

“Why couldn’t you just leave us, me alone? I was happy. I deserve to be happy….” Buffy said looking at the Powers
“Yes but you have a destiny it was meant to be like this, you love this unnatural thing-…”
“Don’t call him that”
“Why not you did, did you not mean it?”
“I meant it at the time but I didn’t know…you have no right to call him that, he is a good man. I love him”
“It doesn’t matter now, things have changed, once you stop what is to come things…things will be…”
“I quit I don’t want to be chosen I can’t lose him I cant lose our baby, my mom, friends, while I was with him, I … I forgot heaven. I love him so much you can’t take that away from me” Buffy sobbed
“Then fight for it.” the powers said
“Who? You?”
“No. You will see. Fight Buffy, for the man you love, he is devoted to you he will never ever leave you as long as you give him some inkling you want him”
“But I do I want him so much I know he will never leave me. He defied death by making that wish, to be with me….” Buffy trailed off realization of what he had done for her dawning on her.
“That’s enough…Stop upsetting her…” Spike growled at the powers. “She has done enough…”
“Buffy must do this. She must complete her final tasks.” the powers said.
There was a blinding flash of light. Buffy and Spike found themselves in their bed, nestled together. “Spike oh god…was that real?” Buffy asked her fear was palpable.
