Willow and Tara arrived just as the phone rang. The girls sat down as Xander answered the phone.
Xander put the phone on speaker and they all could hear Giles asking what was going on.
“Slow down G-man, I’ll tell you if you let me get a word in edgewise.”
Giles apologized and waited for Xander to continue.
“Ok this is the situation. The school has contacted social services because they are concerned that Buffy may have problems raising Dawn without some from of support. They are coming round tomorrow at sixteen thirty hours, I’ve got Kyle working on the Bot to get it ready and Willow has written a Buffy personality for it. Giles we need you back here by tomorrow as Joyce named you as guardian for both Buffy and Dawn.”
“I’ll leave LA first thing tomorrow I’m very tired right now and I’m worried that if I drive I might have an accident.”
“I’ll go back to the dorm and get the disks.”
“Good. Hopefully any errors in the Bot will be put down to Buffy grieving for Joyce and being worried that they’re going to take Dawn away. Willow I need you and Tara to be here for the meeting so they see that Buffy has a support system in place. Also Giles I’m going to go over to you apartment today and get some of your stuff to dress this place so it look as if you’ve been staying here.”
“Ok Xander what about the fact that I run a magic shop some of them might find it an unsuitable profession for a legal guardian?”
“But its not just a magic shop it’s also an artifact and rare book store. The magic shop side of things is just so you have a steady regular income.”
“What if they still try to take her away?”
“I don’t think they can they haven’t got a real reason to do so. Dawns school record has improved lately and I’m going to put Buffy on your books so it looks like she has a part-time job. Also with the ‘rent’ I pay for the apartment and workshop in the garage you will have more than enough income to support them. If they still try anything they will first have to go to court as they will have to prove that you are an unfit parent so that would buy us some time.”
“Ok I’ll leave first thing in the morning it looks like you all have things in hand there.”
“Oi Watcher are you at the poufs?”
“Yes Spike I am.”
“Good look in his book shelves for a book called sentinels of the Prague its but some lord or something if I’m right Xander needs it.”
“Oh? What is it about?”
“Humans with five heightened senses.”
Xander gave spike a huge smile.
“Very well I’ll have a look for it.”
Giles hung up the phone and Willow got to her feet to go back to the dorm for the disks she needed.
“Tara, Spike would the two of you mind going through the house and putting everything Slayer or magic related in boxes. We can use the van that’s due here in a moment to move them to one of our other bases, just keep a few things for emergency, we can put them in the basement. I’ll call someone to give you a hand, Willow I’ll give you a lift to the dorm then drop you back here before I go to Giles’s.”
