[A/N: I personally couldn’t remember Buffy’s birthday, and after doing some research I found that it has changed a couple of time when the series was just beginning. So I found one that was sometime in the summer so as to be useful to me. We’re going to say her birthday was on May 6th, alrighty? It fits the story better. Thankee! P.s. 72 days makes the time line a little crooked, but its close enough so don’t yell at me.]

For the next three days Buffy saw nothing of Spike. And not just because she spent almost 3 hours a day going over her latest break down with Agent Finn and his crack team of psychologists. And not just because she spent another 4 hours with Faith bitching about them and shopping.

Personally Faith didn’t worry about Spike. Around 5:42 in the morning when Buffy had finally fallen asleep, Faith heard Spike at the door. Silently she had motioned him in to help her get Buffy back to her own bed, then she watched him walk back to his own room with out a word. She knew he had heard everything, and that it was taking a toll on him. She also knew that he didn’t have the half of it. Spike wasn’t someone like Faith or Buffy. He had never been considered unstable, psychotic, or even dangerous. So when Buffy was telling her story, he didn’t pick up on all the little hints that told a story of their own. He didn’t hear about how Buffy had known for years that there was a threat. He didn’t hear how Buffy had always been on guard. And he didn’t hear how ashamed she was of not being able to protect the ones she loved, let alone herself.

On the fourth day, Buffy and Faith stomped up the grand marble staircase, arms filled with heavy bags, chattering about everything and anything under the sun. Reaching Buffy’s they unloaded their arms onto the bed, then sat down on the floor.

“Now we’ll have to go out and get you some suit cases too.” Laughed Faith, referring to the bags filled with new clothes. “We’ll have to do it today too, while we’re getting stuff for your dorm room, cause tomorrow’s the fashion show, then the day after you move out!” She said standing up and walking to the door.
“Wait a second!” Buffy yelped hopping up and following Faith down the hall. “Fashion show?”

“Fashion Show!” Faith laughed.

“Oh and don’t worry about feeling a need to explain or anything because not having a clue what your talking about is such a good look on me.” Buffy grinned catching up.

Linking arms with the smiling blond, they started back down the stairs. But before they could hang the right needed to get to the garage, the doorbell rang. Faith ran to answer the door, and out of the corner of her eye noticed a platinum headed body standing by the banister on the second floor.

“I got it!” She yelled, throwing open the door.

“Miss Summers?” asked a good looking, built boy no older then the girls.

“No…” Faith read the nametag. “Larry. You got the wrong sex goddess, that’s Summers.” She said pointing to Buffy and grinning as the blonde bounced to the door.

“Hello?” She asked, a picture of pure flirty innocence. “May I help you?”

“I have a delivery for you Miss Summers, if you’ll just wait one second, I wasn’t sure if this was the right house.” He grinned gesturing to the huge house. Then turning he ran out to the van parked off the curb, calling to his partner to help.

Together the two boys brought in 6 dozen bouquets of roses. When his partner had returned to the van, Larry handed Buffy a card, then turn to leave. Shutting the door behind him Buffy opened the envelope to find a card with a picture of a rose on the front.
Inside it read:
72 Roses for everyday you’ve been here.
And 72 Roses for everyday you’ve been in my heart.
Plus one for tomorrow.

“Who’s it from,” Faith asked.

“It isn’t signed.” Buffy said blushing, and handing the card to Faith.

After reading it, Faith called someone to take the flowers up to Buffy’s room, and the girls headed out. But before Faith left the foyer she took a chance glance up to the banister, catching Spike’s eye.

Awww, Spikey’s a romantic. She grinned. Then picking up a piece of paper she scrawled a quick note and handed it to one of the servants headed up to Buffy’s room, telling them to deliver the note to Spike.

Don’t worry. It read. Your secret’s safe with me. Glancing down to her, Spike watched Faith head out of the room. Looking back down to the note he noticed a part of the message he had missed, written at the very bottom. But she’s gonna figure it out. Laughing he turned and walked back to his room.

What both of them hadn’t realized is that Buffy had figured it out. She had noticed that one night that the door had been opened a bit, that Spike had been up late that night and that Faith had no strength what so ever, let alone enough to carry the blond to her own bed.

As they drove into town neither one of them spoke, both turning over recent events in their minds. Finally Buffy broke the silence.

“So back to this ‘Fashion Show’.” Buffy smirked using air quotes.

Faith risked a glance across the convertible at Buffy, and immediately hair whipped into her face. At the mixed look of sheer terror and hope, Faith laughed.

“Well it’s this thing that me and Spike started. Every time Giles takes in a patient for the summer we go out and spend a small fortune buying them new clothes and new bags and just all around stuff. Then the day before they’re to go move in to their new dorms we have them do a mock fashion show in the hallway. It used to be just me and Spike, but now all the staff comes to watch and Giles takes the day off. There’s music for your runway performance, and after your done with each outfit you toss it out into the crowd where we’ll fold it. And then we have a panel of judges who decipher if each outfit is skanky, sweet, or somewhere in between. Then when the shows over we go and play cards, or uno, or jinga or something, while having a movie night and packing your things. I’m the one who usually goes and takes the girl out shopping the two days before the show, but since you’ve been so busy we only had one day. Plus Spike’s been all spacey so he hasn’t been able to-“ all the sudden Faith’s cellphone went off. From across the convertible Buffy jumped in her seat and then glared at the cellular device.

“Hello? Oh hey Spike… Yeah I know you forgot… Okay here she is.” Faith handed over the phone.

“Spike??” Buffy said nervously into the phone. She officially hated the damned things. “Hey…. Yeah she explained it to me. My favorite foods? For what? Oh the fashion show. Got it. Anything I want?” Buffy broke into a wicked grin, making Faith burst out laughing.

“Give it your best shot B, Spike can get anything you want.” Faith grinned, knowing the blonde couldn’t resist a challenge.

At the other end of the line Buffy could hear Spike laughing. “Fine, anything? I want Krispy Kremes, Coco Puffs, chocolate syrup, brownies, cherries, dill pickles, mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, fried chicken, beef jerky, fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, beef and pork, popcorn shrimp, german chocolate cake, mountain dew, and pepsi.” Slowly she repeated the list 3 times, often adding or subtracting ideas, and just as they were about to hang up, and as Faith pulled into a parking space at the local mall, she asked in a small voice for pudding… pudding that she’d make herself.

To this he happily complied.
