Chapter 10 - An Eye For An Eye
Alex, Xander, Wesley, Oz and Druscilla were holed up in the Hotel. Wesley, Oz and Xander were buried in a pile of research books, trying to figure out how Darla had come back. Alex was reading a book of spells, while Drusilla was sitting next to a closed window, talking with the stars.
Angel and Spike had been checking out the local demon bars and such, attempting to get information on Darla, when Lorne had called the hotel with a request… apparently one of the lawyers from Wolfram and Hart was having doubts and needed the vampire’s help to investigate some strange things he’d noticed.
Oz sighed and pushed away the books, needing to rest his eyes. As soon as Drusilla saw this she left the window and lay down on the couch next to Oz, resting her head in his lap and purring softly when her mate started to run his hands through her hair. Wesley stood and went to go refill the giant pot of coffee the mortals in the room had been drinking and Alex moved over toward Xander, cuddling up next to his twin as he continued to read his spell book.
Drusilla realized something was wrong roughly two seconds before all hell broke loose. She shot up into a sitting position and looked around in confusion, but before she could say anything the window suddenly broke and two smoke grenades were tossed into the room. Instantly everyone, save for Drusilla, was coughing and found themselves unable to fight as a group of humans wearing black SWAT gear stormed into the room, grabbing Alex and Xander before Oz or Drusilla could do anything to stop them.
Alex and Xander found themselves tossed into the back of a black van. Alex was held by the strange men for a few seconds longer then Xander as one of the men shoved a silver bracelet on to his arm. Alex whimpered in pain as he felt the magic on the bracelet bind his magic… rending him powerless.
Xander pulled Alex into his arms as soon as he could, somehow knowing that his twin had lost his magic abilities. The two men stared at their captors as the van drove, Alex trying to remain calm when the van stopped and the two were separated once more as they were half dragged, half carried into Wolfram and Hart.
When the forced march stopped Alex and Xander were in a large room, where Darla was sitting in front of a large window in an ornate chair, surrounded by lawyers and other workers fro Wolfram and Hart.
“So…” Darla hissed, glaring down at the two, “you’re the pathetic little humans who want to take Angelus away from me.”
Xander struggled to get in front of Alex, desperate to protect his mate. “Angel killed you. Do you really think he’ll take you back?”
Darla snarled and stood, looking down at the two men. “You’re Xander… the Slayer’s little pet.” She laughed suddenly, an evil smile on her face. “They call you the one who sees.” Darla remarked, turning to the side and picking up a curved blade which had runes carved into it.
At that moment several guards pulled Alex and Xander apart. Alex was pushed against a wall as Xander was tied to the table that was in the center of the room. Darla stepped up to the table, turning the blade this way and that and watching how the light reflected off of it.
“Wolfram and Hart are willing to pay me a pretty sum for your eyes… they’ll even remove that pesky soul that Angelus has been cursed with.” Darla laughed and leaned down, calmly cutting out Xander’s left eye. Xander screamed in pain, blood pouring down his face as Alex screamed and struggled to get closer to his mate.
The door to the room opened and a young lawyer calmly walked in, making small talk with various people. Alex had to fight to keep his face neutral when he saw the man… it was Lindsey, someone he knew from his original dimension. Alex looked up at the man, who was standing next to him.
In one lighting fast move Lindsey ripped off the bracelet that was restricting Alex’s magic. Alex’s magic surged forward, throwing Darla away from Xander and giving Alex the strength to free his mate from the chains. Lindsey swept Xander up into his arms and lead the way through the building, allowing Alex’s magic to clear a path through the lawyers and guards.
Lindsey held Xander tightly, silently praying that Alex wouldn’t pass out before he got them into his car… he didn’t think he could carry both men.

“ANGEL!” Alex screamed as he entered the Hotel, holding open the door for Lindsey, who was holding Xander. “SPIKE!”
Xander’s head was wrapped in a makeshift bandage made out of an old shirt Alex had found in Lindsey’s car. The torn shirt was soaked through with blood and Xander was all but unconscious.
Angel came running into the main room and gently took Xander into his arms as Spike followed his sire into the room, staring in shock at his mate before pulling a shell-shocked Alex into his arms. Angel lay Xander down on a couch in the main room and pulled out the first aid kit, as well as several herbs and other potion ingredients as Lindsey did his best to help the vampire. Spike, meanwhile, was focusing all his attention on taking care of Alex, who was starting to crash after all that he had been through.
“What happened?” Angel asked as he finished re-bandaging Xander’s eye.
“Darla cut out his eye.” Lindsey explained. “I didn’t get there in time to stop her.”
“Lindsey stopped her from taking both eyes.” Alex remarked from Spike’s arms.
Angel growled and turned to look at Spike. “Childe, take care of Alex and Xander.”
“Where are you going?” Spike asked, moving Alex closer to Xander.
“To kill Darla.” Angel replied before storming out of the Hotel.
Spike leaned down and kissed Xander’s forehead gently before he picked the human up. “Lindsey, make yourself comfortable. I’m putting them to bed.”
Lindsey nodded as Spike, who was carrying Xander walked up the stairs with Alex clinging to his side. The three entered the room which they shared with Angel and Spike lay Xander down on the bed. Alex and Spike lay down on either side of the wounded man, Alex slipping into a deep sleep as Spike kept watch over his mates.
Throughout all of this Xander had been in a sort of half-dreaming state. He was aware of what was happening around him, but everything had the feeling of a dream. When he found himself lying in bed with Alex and Spike the dream won out and Xander’s one remaining eye closed as he joined Alex in sleep, knowing that Spike would protect the two of them.
However, the instant Xander’s eye closed he found himself standing in front of a young man with dark brown hair… a man Xander had seen pictures of in Angel’s office.
“Doyle?” Xander asked, arching one eyebrow.
“Hello Xander.” the man smiled, waving at the youth.
“Your dead.” Xander replied, blinking his one remaining eye and trying to ignore the feeling of not having one eye.
“Yes I am… but the Powers wanted me to give you something.” Doyle replied, stepping forward and pressing one hand to Xander’s face. When Doyle removed his hand Xander realized that he could see out of both eyes once more.
“What?!?” Xander gasped, touching the skin around his eye in confusion. “How?!?”
“This isn’t a normal eye.” Doyle replied, gesturing to Xander’s new eye. “This eye can do more then see…”
With that strange little announcement Doyle vanished and Xander found himself lying in bed, looking at Alex who was staring back at him. “Alex?” Xander whispered.
“Spike went to get some blood… he was hungry.” Alex explained. “Did… did you see something? There was all this magic all around you…”
“I saw Doyle.” Xander replied.
“Angel’s first seer?” Alex blinked. “What happened? What did he say?”
“He… I think he gave me a new eye.” Xander replied, touching the bandages which were over his eye.
Curious, Alex removed the bandages and gasped as what he saw. While there was still a few jagged scars from the knife, the eye which Darla had removed had been replaced with a new one… which had a strange silver tint to it, with a darker silver-grey pupil. Although Xander could see through this eye, he somehow knew that what he was seeing with this eye was a sort of information which humans did not normally process…
