three minutes
“Are you sure?” Dawn asked as she and Faith strolled around the drug store. When Faith shrugged she held back a sigh. This woman was hard as hell to talk to sometimes. How Raya dealt with it she had no idea.
“I don’t know Dawn. That’s why I’m not going to say anything until I do. I mean fuck we got this wicked bad ‘thing’ were fighting and I don’t want to stress her out if I don’t have too.” Accepting that answer Faith and Dawn stopped in front of the pregnancy tests. Honestly it all made sense and Dawn was certain the dark slayer was how you put it…’in the family way’…no to conservative…deciding she like ‘knocked up’ better she helped Faith fill the basket with tests.
Personally she thought they would only need one maybe two but Faith seemed to think giving all twenty something different brands a try was a good idea. Wincing when she saw the total she ran it through on credit anyway.
As they left the store Faith talked animatedly about anything that popped into her head as well as telling Dawn way more than she needed to know about her overactive sex life. Dawn being the good friend she was, even if she was a ‘kid’ it didn’t make her any less of good listener. Besides she knew Faith was talking this much because of her nerves being shot.
Getting into the car she pulled out and after stopping at a Wendy’s drive thru because Faith just HAD to have six bacon burgers and a vanilla milkshake, Dawn had to ask herself how the hell Faith had deluded herself into believing she wasn’t all preggo?

Sitting on the floor outside the upstairs bathroom back at the house Dawn was growing impatient…they weren’t kidding…this was a longass three minutes. When she heard a loud crash and Faith all but shout “FUCKING HELL” her suspicions were further confirmed.
When Faith whipped the door open she stalked down the stairs and outside where Raya was helping Horus, Asher and Xander fix the car that Buffy had overheated when the week before she had somehow thought it would be okay to speed after a Langouros demon that was known for its speed.
“RAY!” Fuck she didn’t mean to say it that loud. Raya turned and looked at her. Concern and confusion were both present on her attractive features. “When did the Moon Fever end?” That caused all three Skin-Walkers to blush; Moon Fever was intimate subjects…fuck it right now she was too pissed to care.
“I don’t know Faith, around a week maybe two weeks ago...why?” Raya snuck nervous glances to her son and grandson. This REALLY wasn’t something she wanted to discuss right now.
“Because I’m fucking pregnant” Faith all but shouted. She really did feel bad about being so bitchy but seriously could you think of a worse time to get knocked up? Christ now she was starting to sound like Dawn. She enjoyed the look of shock and then joy that crossed Ray’s features before her fear and frustration got the better of her.
“Why the hell weren’t you carefully Ray? I mean fuck we got so much shit going on we REALLY don’t need a baby, and I’m not meant to be a mother and we shouldn’t be pregnant right now only your not I am and how the hell are we going to raise a baby? How the hell are we going to protect it? FUCK RAYA” Her eyes began to sting as tears forced there way to the surface. Refusing to let them fall she looked at the three Skin-Walkers.
Horus was standing stock still. His jaw twitching, anger flared to life in his eyes. Asher was looking between his Father and his Grandmother. Nervously wondering if there would be a fight, Raya just stood there. She felt intense rage fill her. How dare she question the fates? How could Faith have so little faith in her or them? Was she saying that she could not protect the baby? Hadn’t she proven she could protect her? She knew right now it was just the fear talking but she was so angry she could barely stand to stay in her human form.
Unable to stand it anymore she stiffly walked into the house, shaking so violently she stalked the dining room before stripping off her clothes and ripping the back door open so violently the glass pane shattered. Running through the yard she felt the familiar change settle over her as she jumped the fence and kept running.

“What were you thinking Faith?” Horus stepped up to her and way to far into her personal space but she held her ground. “How could you question her ability to protect you and the cub?” Horus had to force himself to remain calm. His son was behind him and it wouldn’t do any good to let the boy see him lose control.
Sudden realization hit Faith, between what she had said and what her words meant to Raya. She felt the tears she had held back start to fall and she couldn’t stop herself as she leaned into Horus and cried into his chest. God they were an odd family. Her mate was a shape shifting Egyptian she-prince, her ‘son-in-law’ was older than she was and now she was carrying her girlfriend’s baby.
Horus was taken aback by the sudden dissipation of Faiths rage and the need to comfort his mothers mate overtook his anger.

Several hours later as the sun dipped into the horizon Raya loped through the cemetery. Her anger and hurt over Faiths words had long since gone. Now she just didn’t want to go home and face her mate. Part of her believed Faiths words. How could she protect this cub when Yakumut was out there somewhere, when The First was here, how could she protect them when years before she couldn’t even protect Trayja or stop Yakumut from being turned and Horus from witnessing it all at such a young age.
Stopping when she smelled a vampire she looked over across the cemetery and saw the vampire everyone called ‘Spike’ leaned against a large tombstone taking large swigs out of a bottle of Jack Daniels. Feeling bored with nothing else to do but go home, and firmly rejecting that idea. She turned and made her way over to him.
“Well hello there Fuzzy.” Spike slurred the words and giggle. Raya cocked her head to the side studying the difference in his behavior. She had seen Faith drunk a couple times before she had accepted her but she had never drank anything other than wine herself.
“You just going to sit there or what?” Hiccupping at the last bit Spike straightened a bit and then slumped down to the ground.
Rearing up to her hind legs Raya shifted into human form and sat Indian style across from him. Glaring when he stared a little to hard at her chest he offered the bottle. Tentatively taking it and sniffing the contents she immediately went to give it back when he pushed it back at her claiming that it would cure what ails ya.
Wondering what ‘ailed’ the vampire she tossed back a drink, coughing and choking on the strong liquid but pleased when after a minute it left a pleasant feeling of warmth in her stomach.
“You want to go back to my tomb? I don’t really feel like sitting out here with your psycho ex running around and all.” Spike didn’t wait for an answer as he clumsily climbed to his feet and started walking towards his home. Raya mutely followed.
Another two hours later
Faith, Horus and Buffy walked through his cemetery Horus had sensed Raya’s scent in. Seeing no sign of her whereabouts, Buffy decided that maybe Spike would know. After all this was ‘his’ cemetery.
Cracking open the door to the crypt they crept in, seeing no sign of the vamp until B moved to a hidden tile and moved it aside. Momentarily wondering how she knew that was there they all moved down the ladder into the basement of the tomb. Once reaching the bottom Faith turned and ran into B’s back and looked passed her to see what had been so shocking. There on the couch Spike was sprawled out and Raya was standing on a chair without a stitch of clothing on belting out the words to Eliza Manelli’s song don’t Cry for me Argentina in a horribly slurred voice, missing every key in the song.
She was wasted….absolutely friggin wasted. Laughing she felt the worry from the last few hours slip away at the sight of her lover in such a ridiculous display. Horus rooted around the room and found sweats and a hoodie for Raya to wear and as they struggled to get her to dress and to calm her down. She slurred drunkenly in a language Faith didn’t recognize and protested because her next solo was coming up.
When they finally managed to leave it took nearly twice as long to get home because Raya was suddenly interested in every little thing, the most pressing was getting into Faiths pants and she did not care one bit that B and Horus were walking a little in front of them. Hell she barely cared when she was sober, why would she now?
Getting her in the house and up the stairs into bed proved to be a chore until Faith led her to believe that she could possibly get ‘lucky’…lately that was her favorite word, she had heard Anya refer to it and now it was her favorite.
Carefully stripping the borrowed clothes off her drunken mate she laid her down after placing an empty waste basket at the floor of the bed and got into the coves.
“Faithy…I woov you” Raya hiccupped and clung onto the bed as a wave of dizziness swept over her.
“I love you too honey, just get some sleep” Faith felt herself relax for the first time all day now that her lover was beside her. A few moments later she heard the wolf say something that made her eyes widen in surprise and laugh.
“Faith comes…come sit on my face.” Raya slurred out and then passed out.
