Chapter Ten: Penumbra

Two Years Prior: Halloween, 1997

“Um, Buffy?” Amy asked, her brow raised quizzically. Willow, who was hand in hand with Amy, glanced curiously between the two.
“What? Do I have something in my hair?” Buffy asked, causing her to frantically check her hair.
Xander laughed at her display as he turn away from them to open his locker. Willow rolled her eyes. “Buffy, you always ask that and there’s never anything there, right Amy?” she asked, looking over at her best friend.
Amy bit the corner of her lip to stop from laughing. “You’re exactly right Wills, well, except for this…” Amy leaned across Willow and deftly plucked a piece of straw from the slayer’s hair.
Buffy smiled sheepishly. “Thanks…” Xander chuckled again as he turned back around after closing his locker.
Amy nodded. “No problem,” she replied as she started to move back across the redhead. Her hand accidentally brushed against Willow’s chest which caused them both to pause at the tingles it sent through them. Neither of the two sorceress’ breathed for a second as they looked at each other, barely an inch between them.
Xander opened his mouth to make a sexual tension joke about the two girls, but Principal Snyder broke the whole moment by pushing the two girls apart. Amy and Willow dropped hands and backed up, blushing furiously.
“I will not tolerate such behavior at my school,” he said pointedly, looking at both Amy and Willow. Snyder reached over and grabbed Buffy by the arm and pulled her to the table. “Miss Summers. Just the juvenile delinquent I've been looking for,” he said darkly. “Halloween must be a big night for you. Tossing eggs, keying cars, bobbing for apples, one pathetic cry for help after another. Well, not this year, missy,” he stated triumphantly.
Willow, Xander and Amy walked over to stand behind Buffy. The two blushing girls pointedly putting Xander in between them. His face a mask of obvious fantasizing about his two best friends and the relieving of their sexual tension.
“Gosh, I'd love to sign up, but I recently developed carpal tunnel syndrome, and can tragically no longer hold a flashlight,” Buffy retorts, sarcasm deeply laced in her words. She scowled at him when he held up the clipboard and pen.
“The program starts at four, the children have to be back at six,” Snyder explained.
The slayer grumbled and grabbed the offending objects, signing herself up. Xander bit back his laughter, glancing between Amy and Willow, who were still looking anywhere but each other.
Xander lost his smile when he held out three pens, one for each. Xander grumbled but the two girls took them without question, signing their names on the papers.

“I can't believe this. We have to get dressed up and the whole deal?” Xander whined, both him and Buffy sharing a crushed look.
“Great. I was gonna stay in and veg. The one night a year things are supposed to be quiet for me,” Buffy griped.
“Halloween quiet? Oh, I figured it'd be a big old vamp scare-apalooza,” Xander commented. The four teens ascended the stairs to the lounge. Willow and Amy sat down on opposite sides of the couch, still unable to look at each other.
“Not according to Giles. He swears that tomorrow night is, like, dead for the undead,” Buffy replied, sitting in between the two girls. “They stay in,”
“Those wacky vampires! That's why I love 'em! They just keep you guessing!” He said, a goofy grin on his face. Xander dropped his stuff down on the table before heading over to the vending machine.
“Okay, you two,” Buffy said, forcing both girls to look up and at her. “Seriously? Enough with the awkwardness. Get over it, you two had a moment, so what. This whole not speaking thing and you two not being with the you two is really annoying. Get back to being all couple-y like normal. Now,” she said, standing up. The slayer looked over at Xander starting a fight with Larry. “Oh, great, I gotta go save Xander,” she bitched, heading over to the two men.
Willow and Amy looked over at each other shyly. “Hey you…” Willow said softly, smiling gently.
“Hey you…” Amy replied in barely above a whisper, a small smile on her face, too. The redhead smiled more and moved across the couch until she was sitting directly next to Amy. Amy took Willow’s hand in hers and they intertwined their fingers on instinct.
“Oh, that? Forget about it!” they heard Buffy reply as she headed back to the lounge area with a furious Xander in tow.
“Oh, I'll forget about it. In maybe fifteen, twenty years when my rep for being a sissy man finally fades!” He shot back angrily.
Buffy stopped walking and turned to him, confused. “Xander, don’t you think you’re—”
“A black eye heals, Buffy, but cowardice has an unlimited shelf life,” he interrupted her. “Oh, thanks! Thanks a lot for your help,” he said venomously. Xander grabbed his bag off the table and stormed off.
Buffy groaned and sat down on the couch opposite the two snuggled teens. “I think I just violated the guy code big time,” she admitted.
“Poor Xander. Boys are so fragile. Speaking of, how was your date last night?” Willow asked. Amy rolled her eyes, unable to sit and hear Buffy fawn over Angel again.
Amy undid her hand from Willow’s and stood up, both girls shared a sad look at the loss of contact. “I’m gonna catch up with Xander, I’m worried that he’ll try something stupid,”
Buffy nodded. “Don’t defend him though, that’ll make things worse,”
Amy grinned. “I won’t, I promise I’ll let him get his ass kicked. I’m thinking getting myself into a situation and letting him protect me, that should boost his ego,” Amy admitted.
All three girls laughed at that. Amy walked around the back of the couch, running her hand over Willow’s shoulder and neck as she left, both of them feeling their skin tingle where it connected.

“You seriously stole the Watcher Diaries…” Amy said, looking at the two incredulously. The violet-eyed sorceress set her glasses on the sink counter and leaned in close to the mirror, adjusting her hazel contacts. “I can’t leave you two alone, can I?” she asked, smirking.
Willow shook her head and grinned at Amy. Buffy flipped to a page in the diary. “Man, look at her,” she said, running her fingers over the drawing.
Amy tried to look from where she was but all she saw was yellowed, blurry pages with fuzzy black ink on them. The older sorceress growled and pushed some of her hair behind her ear. Amy put on her glasses and looked back at the book. “Eh, too much foofaraw. If I’m gonna wear a dress, I want something with some slink,” she commented, leaning back up against the sink at Willow’s side.
Buffy rolled her eyes at Amy. “You? In a dress? I’m dying with laughter inside,” she replied dryly.
Willow gave Buffy a dirty look before turning to Amy. “I can imagine you in a slinky dress…” she said softly.
Buffy rolled her eyes at the two before looking back down at the book. “It doesn’t say who she is, but the entry’s dated 1775,”
“Angel was eighteen. And still human,” Willow noted.
“So that’s the kinda girl he hung around? She’s pretty coiffed,” Buffy said.
“She looks like a noble woman or something. Which means being beautiful is sort of her job,” Willow explained.
“And clearly this girl was a workaholic. I'll never be like this,” Buffy complained.
“C’mon, Beth, she’s not that pretty,” Amy told her. “Look at her waist and torso. Dawn could wrap her hands around her waist and it looks like she’s missing at least two ribs,”
“Thank you. Now I feel better,” Buffy replied sarcastically.
“No. She’s a freak. A circus freak. Yuk,” Willow tried her hand at making Buffy feel better.
Buffy sighed ruefully and ran her fingers gently over the image again. “Musta been wonderful. Put on some fantabulous gown and go to a ball like a princess, and have horses and servants, and yet more gowns…” she trailed off sadly.
“Yeah. Still, I think I prefer being able to vote,” Willow said. Amy let out a little cough and the redhead grinned. “Or I will when I can,” she corrected herself.
The bathroom door opened and Cordelia walked in, heading for the farthest mirror from the trio. She looked over at Buffy. “So, Buffy. You ran off last night and left poor little Angel all by his lonesome. But I did everything I could to comfort him,” she said snidely.
Buffy laughed dryly. “I’ll bet,” she replied.
“So, what's his story anyway? I mean, I never see him around,” Cordelia asked.
“Not during the day, anyway,” Willow replied, a smirk on her face.
“Oh, please. Don't tell me he still lives at home. Like, he has to wait for his dad to get back before he can take the car?” Cordelia asked incredulously.
“Cordy, I think his parents have been dead for a couple of hundred years,” Amy replied condescendingly.
Cordelia looked into the mirror and fixed her bangs. “Oh, good. I mean...” she turned to them sharply. “What?”
Willow had to stifle a giggle and Amy grinned widely. “Angel's a vampire. I thought you knew,” Buffy said.
“Oh, he's a vampire. Of course! But the cuddly kind. Like a Carebear with fangs?” Cordelia shot back scathingly.
“It's true,” Willow replied.
Cordelia walked over to them. “You know what I think?” she crossed her arms and looked at Buffy challengingly. “I just think you're trying to scare me off 'cause you're afraid of the competition. Look, Buffy, you may be hot stuff when it comes to
demonology or whatever, but when it comes to dating, I'm the Slayer,” she said confidently, striding out of the bathroom.

Buffy quickly put down the screaming, flashing pumpkin she picked up. Willow walked over to them holding a costume behind her back. Both girls glanced around and saw Amy and Xander arguing over on the other end of the store.
“What’d you get?” Buffy asked her.
“A time-honored classic!” Willow said proudly, holding up a ghost/white sheet costume.
Buffy groaned and put her face in her hands. “Okay, Will, can I give you a little friendly advice?” she asked desperately.
“It’s not spooky enough?” Willow asked.
“It’s just… you’re never gonna get Amy to make a move if you keep hiding. You’re missing the whole point of Halloween,”
Willow smiled sardonically. “Free candy?”
“It’s come as you aren’t night. The perfect chance for a girl to get sexy and wild with no repercussions,” Buffy explained.
“Oh, I don’t get wild. Wild on me equals spaz. Ask Amy,” Willow said.
“Don't underestimate yourself. You've got it in you,” Buffy chided. Xander and Amy walk up to them a small bag each in hand.
“Hey, you…” Willow said sweetly to Amy.
Amy smiled back. “Hey, you…” she replied.
“What’d you two get?” Willow asked, curiously trying to look in Amy’s bag.
“Nope! That’s my secret for tonight, “Amy said, grinning at Willow’s begging face.
Xander pulled a toy military rifle out of his bag and held it up for Willow and Buffy to see. “That's not a costume,” Buffy stated.
Xander shot Buffy a look then turned to Willow. “I got fatigues from an Army surplus at home. Call me the Two-Dollar Costume King, baby!” He exclaimed.
“Hey, look, Xander…” Buffy started, but he pointed the toy rifle at her. “I’m… really sorry about this morning,”
“Do you mind, Buffy? I'm trying to repress,” he said darkly.
“Okay, then I promise, from now on I’ll let you get pummeled,” she stated, putting her chin on his shoulder and pouting.
Xander rolled his eyes at Buffy. “Thank you,”

Amy knocked on Buffy’s front door, checking her image in the window’s reflection. She knocked quickly on the door. Xander caught up with her and they stood side by side. “Xander, you’re drooling,” she said, looking at him through the window’s reflection. Amy brushed some of her dyed black hair behind her ear.
Xander blinked a few times before looking her black leather encased body up and down. “How can I not? Selene? From Underworld? You’re hot tonight!” he exclaimed.
Amy glared at him, her glowing, icy-blue contacts making her even more menacing. “And I’m not, normally?” she asked.
Xander paled. “No, of course you are, but I’m just saying you’re a lot hotter than normal tonight,” he babbled off and started glaring at her when she cracked up laughing. “I wish you wouldn’t do that to me,”
“Too much fun, you’re such an easy mark, Xan,” she said.
“So do you think Willow will go all non-verbal when she sees you?” Xander asked her. Amy opened her mouth to speak, fangs showing, but Buffy opened the door before she could.
Xander walked in saluting, Amy in tow fake handgun in hand. “Private Harris reporting for...” he trailed off, staring at Buffy wide-eyed. “Buffy! Lady of Buffdom, Duchess of Buffonia, I am in awe! I completely renounce spandex!” he said, stunned.
Buffy giggled and curtsied, her red colonial gown flowing out around her. “Thank you, kind sir,” she said with a bad southern accent. Xander bowed in return.
Buffy turned to Amy and looked her up and down. “Damn, Willow’s gonna be brain dead at the sight of you,”
“Would everyone stop trying to get us together!” Amy said exasperatedly. She holstered her gun and ran her hands through her hair.
“I know you’re gonna be stunned, wait till you see…” Buffy turned to the stairs and saw Willow coming down in the ghost sheet. “Casper…”
“Hey ,y…” Willow started to say but trailed off, her eyes glazing slightly at the sight of Amy decked out in a tight, black-leather outfit.
Amy grinned at her. “Hey, you…” she replied with a cocky smirk on her face.

Amy and Willow walked side by side, leading the group of kids they were assigned.
“C’mon, guys,” Willow said. The group ran up to the door, the two older girls hanging back. “You look really good tonight…” Willow said gently to Amy.
Amy blushed and looked away, putting her gun down on the railing as she bent down to tie her boots. “Thanks…”
“Oh! What of all that did you buy at Ethan’s?” Willow asked, curiously.
Amy looked up from her boots. “Just the gun, couldn’t find any I liked anywhere else,”
“Ah, all that curiosity over a pair of handguns…” Willow muttered, causing Amy to giggle.
“What’re you wearing under the sheet?” Amy asked bluntly, causing Willow to let out a sound of embarrassment. Amy stood up, grabbing her handgun and holstering it.
The redhead thought for moment about answering Amy’s question. “I’ll show you later, over at my house after this is all done,” she said, deciding if Amy wouldn’t make the first move, she would.
The two girls turned sharply towards their charges at the sound of the woman screaming. Some of the kids had turned into the costumes they were. Amy moved towards the kids as one of them was strangling the woman. “Hey! Knock it off!” Amy yelled at them.
Something changed inside Amy’s head. Her thought patterns changed and she felt like her personality was repressed. She felt cold, distant. Thoughts of battle tactics, advanced interrogation tactics and weaponry skills flashed through her head in an instant. The taste of blood filled her memory and her eyes dilated at the smell of the crimson liquid. Quickly subduing her urges she felt a wave of nauseating confusion wash over her. Who was she? What was she? What was her name?
The vampire brought her gloved hand to her lips and felt her teeth then it all made sense. ‘My name is Selene, I am a vampire of high royalty, my power is unrivaled. I killed the Brothers,’ she thought to herself. The sound of a pained gasp reached her ears and she whirled towards the sound, seeing a young, redheaded woman fall dead to the ground. Selene drew her handgun and walked over their cautiously, scanning the area for the assailant.
The vampire leapt backwards upon seeing Willow’s form rising from her prone body. Selene leveled her gun at the “You’re a bloody ghost…” Selene gasped in a flawless British accent, her aim unwavering. She studied Willow’s outfit and an eyebrow quirked up. The crimson tube top and the tight black mini-skirt clearly didn’t belong in the area. “Who are you?” she stated simply, cocking her gun.
“Ohmigod! I'm a real ghost!” Willow exclaimed, starting to hyperventilate, but then realizing she didn’t need to breathe, being dead. Selene stared at her, questioning her and the redhead’s sanity. “Amy?” Willow asked Selene. The other woman didn’t acknowledge her, nor respond, since she didn’t know anybody by the name of Amy. The two young women turned sharply towards the street upon hearing automatic gunfire.
Selene ran out into the street in the direction of the gunfire with Willow in tow and saw Xander with a M-16. Willow ran to him while Selene preferred a more caution approach, firearm at the read., “Xander!” Willow called out to him. He spun around and aimed his rifle at her.
“Gun down, soldier,” Selene growled out menacingly.
“It’s me, Willow!” Willow implored.
“I don’t know any Willow,” Xander replied, moving his gun from Willow to Selene to Willow again. Selene never took his gun off Xander’s forehead.
Willow glared at him and got in his face. “Xander, knock it off. This is no time for jokes,” she said seriously.
“What the hell’s going on here?” he asked Selene.
Willow looked crushed. “You don’t know me?” she asked again.
Xander rested his rifle on his shoulder. “Ladies, I suggest you find cover,” he said, starting to walk away.
Willow stepped in front of him to stop him. “No, wait!” she said. Xander didn’t stop and ended up walking through her, causing everyone to be surprised.
Xander whirled around and aimed his rifle at her again. “What the hell are you?”
Selene stepped in front of his gun and put her hand on the barrel, tempted to bend the whole weapon into a figure-eight. “I’m a teenager masquerading as a ghost, but then turned into one. Amy was dressed as a certain vampire named Selene and now is her. You were dressed up as a soldier and now you’re out of Nam,” Willow said bluntly. “But I’m on your side, I swear, I don’t know about her, though,” she said, gesturing to Amy/Selene.
“You expect me to believe that?” He asked, incredulously, of her. A monster ran at them, Xander and Selene raised their guns at it in response.
Willow stepped in front of the barrels as the monster ran away. “No! No guns! That’s an order!” she said forcefully.
Xander and Selene lowered their weapons and looked around. “Fine, but I’m taking a lot on faith here,” he said, looking over at Selene. She nodded in agreement.
“Buffy!” Willow yelled, running across the street.
Selene motioned her head towards the fleeing ghost. “Come, we best not lose pace,” Xander nodded and the two took off after Willow.
Buffy looked around, frightened over everything that was happening around her. “Buffy! Are you okay?” Willow asked her, resisting the urge to hug her, due to her current ephemeral state.
The demon came back with another in tow. The both roar in tandem as they approach. Xander readied his rifle and took aim. “This could be a situation,” he stated bleakly.
“Buffy, what do we do?” Willow asked her. Buffy fainted.
“Great, complications,” Selene said, turning to the demons, growling back at them. Xander and Selene fired off a few rounds at the demons and they ran away quickly. Both the soldier and the vampire turned to Willow and Buffy. The latter of which just waking up.
“Buffy, are you alright?” Willow asked her gently.
“What?” Buffy responded.
“Are you hurt?” Xander asked.
“Buffy, are you hurt?” Willow asked.
Buffy sat up slowly, rubbing her aching head. “Buffy?” she asked.
Willow glanced at Xander. “She’s not Buffy,” she muttered.
“Who’s Buffy?” Xander asked.
Selene crouched down next to Willow in front of Buffy, “Oh, this is fun,” Selene muttered. The vampire took Buffy’s jaw in her hand and forced her to make eye contact. “What year is this?” she asked the frightened former-slayer.
“177, I believe,” Buffy responded. Selene let her go and stood up, scanning the area for hostiles. Xander reached down and helped Buffy up. “I-I don’t understand. Who are you?”
“We're friends,” Willow replied reassuringly.

Xander and Selene went into the Summer’s kitchen first, checking for hostiles. Xander opened the door and scaned the room. “All clear!” he declared, Selene nodded in response.
Willow and Buffy walked in behind them. “Hello? Mrs. Summers?” she asked loudly, waiting for a response. When none came, she sighed in relief. “Good, she’s gone,”
Xander closed the kitchen door while Selene checked the closets and the rest of the lower floor for enemies.
Buffy walked over to the corner in the kitchen, her breathing still rapid and shallow. Selene could smell the fear pouring out of the girl from the other room, a smell that was so copious, it was starting to make her nauseous.
Both her and Xander whirled around, weapons at the ready. The door resounded with more banging.
Willow ran into the room, waving her arms to get the two soldiers’ attention. “Don’t open it!” she yelled at Xander, whose hand was nearly on the handle.
“Could be a civilian,” he rationalized. Selene cocked her gun and held it steady at the door.
“Or a mini demon,” Willow countered.
“What’s the sit out there?” Selene asked, walking over to where Xander was. He glanced back at her briefly before returned to the door’s window.
“Situation FUBAR, ma’am. I don’t have the slightest clue to what’s going on,” he replied.
Selene sighed. “Agreed,” she ran her gloved hand through her shoulder-length hair. “Last memory?” she asked.
Xander paused, a look of worried confusion crossing his face. “Red hair, over there. She yelled my name when I was in the street. I saw you and her soon there after,”
Selene frowned. “This is not good,” the vampire looked out the window in time to see a demonic claw coming at her face. She swung to the side as it shattered the window on the door. Both soldiers raised their firearms in unison, pointing them through the porthole.
“Not a civilian!” Willow yelled.
“Affirmative,” Xander responded. The two opened fire all around the demon.
“Hey! What did we say?!” Willow demanded of Selene as the raven-haired vampire turned to her. The redheaded ghost opened her mouth to say something, but her brain stopped working as she looked into Selene’s teal eyes.
Selene raised an eyebrow at Willow but dismissed the look on her face. “Big noise scare monster, remember?” she replied.
Willow nodded dumbly in response.

Xander brought a chair in from the dining room, heading for the window. Selene upended a table and carried it with ease over to the shattered frame. Xander turned his head to Cordelia as he handed Selene the chair. “You! Check upstairs. Make sure everything’s locked up,”
Selene braced the chair against the table. “Isn’t gonna hold against these things,” she commented, looking ruefully to Xander. They both turned to Buffy, who was shaking with fear.
Buffy ran over to them, looking wildly around her. Her breath came out quick and ragged. Selene felt a wave of nausea flood over her as the smell of Buffy’s fear hit her. “Surely there's somewhere we can go. A safe haven,” Buffy asked.
“Lady said stay put,” Xander replied bluntly.
Selene decided she wanted, no, needed to get away from the weakling that pestered her. She walked past the two of them and towards the kitchen.
Buffy looked at Xander strangely. “You would take orders from a woman? A-are you feeble in some way?”
“Ma'am, in the Army we have a saying: sit down and shut the—“ he started, but Selene silenced with a sharp whistle.
The vampire picked up a framed picture slowly, her eyes refusing to betray her emotions. “You two, shut up and check this out,” she muttered, loud enough to hear. Selene ran her fingers over Amy’s face. It was her, that much was obvious, but her hair was red-blonde and a bit longer than her current. Rectangular, yet stylish, glasses adorned her face. Willow was in her arms and they were both smiling widely at the camera. Amy’s head was on Willow’s shoulder and it was apparent that Willow was leaning back fully into Amy’s embrace. Buffy was resting her elbows on Amy’s shoulder’s, grinning at the camera. However, this Buffy had blonde hair that was pulled into an upsweep behind her head. Xander stood next to them, grinning as well with a thumbs-up directed at the camera.
Xander and Buffy look at the picture over Selene’s shoulder. “Whoa!” Xander exclaimed, taking the picture from Selene.
The vampire closed her eyes, surpressing all her emotions. “She must be right…” Selene commented, not really talking to anyone but herself. “We must have some kind of amnesia…”
Buffy looked at her indignantly. “I don’t know what that is, but I’m certain I don’t have it. I bathe quite often!” she exclaimed.
Selene shot her a withering look, tempted to snap the annoying bimbo’s neck. She opened her mouth to let out a scathing reply, but found the whole statement too stupid to even respond to. The agrivated vampire walked over to the door, away from the picture.
“How do you explain this?” Xander asked Buffy, trying to save his comrade-in-arms.
“I don't! I was brought up a proper lady. I-I wasn't meant to understand things. I'm just meant to look pretty, and then someone nice will marry me. Possibly a Baron,” she said, turning away from Xander.
Xander growled under his breath. “This ain't no tea party, princess. Sooner or later you're gonna have to fight!”
“Fight these low creatures?” Buffy scoffed. “I'd sooner die,” she replied contemptuously, crossing her arms for good effect.
“Then you’ll die,” Selene spat, storming past Buffy into the kitchen. The vampire walked into Angel, knocking them both over.
Angel got up quickly and hugged Selene, who was startled beyond belief at this stranger. “Oh, good! You guys are alright. It's total chaos out there,” he said to them as he released Selene.
The three of them looked at him warily and responded in unison. “Who are you?”

Selene fired a shot right past Larry’s head, making him turn around sharply. Xander tackled him and threw punch after punch at the pirate. Selene picked up Buffy by the arms to a standing position. Cordelia arrived soon after with Angel in tow. Buffy screamed and flung herself behind Selene, clinging to her fearfully. The smell of her fear gave the vampire a wave of nausea.
Cordelia scoffed. “What’s your deal? Take a pill!” she exclaimed.
“He’s, he’s a vampire!” she gasped out, pointing at him. Selene extricated herself from Buffy’s grasp.
Cordelia rolled her eyes and turned to Angel. “She’s got this thing where she thinks…” she sighed. “Uh, forget it,” Cordelia turned to Buffy. “It’s okay. Angel is a good vampire; he would never hurt you,” she explained, her voice dripping with condescension.
“Really?” Buffy asked hesitantly.
Cordelia nodded. “Absolutely. He’s our friend,” she replied.
Selene’s nostrils flared, trying to pick up the scent of anyone approaching. The air was clogged, however, with the smell of Xander’s fury, Cordelia’s annoyance and Buffy’s fear.
Angel stood next to Selene. “Amy, how did you become a vampire?” he asked her.
It took a second for Selene to register that Angel was talking to her. “I really don’t know who this Amy girl is, though I have a hunch that she is the look-alike of me in that picture,” she replied calmly.
Angel nodded slowly. “This night is just way too weird,”
Selene laughed breathlessly. “Agreed,” the vampire turned to her side, glancing down the alleyway.
Willow ran swiftly down the alley towards Selene. “Amy!” she called out, stopping in front of the vampire.
“Willow!” Selene said, startled. The surge of emotion that she felt when looking at the ghost disturbed her. Fragmented memories floated to the surface in her mind. She also responded to the name ‘Amy’. Selene repressed her emotions again, deciding that not dealing was better than dealing right now.
“Guys, you gotta get inside,” she said, breathlessly. Selene wondered for a second why Willow was out of breath, she didn’t even have lungs.
The group turned to where Willow came from, noting Spike and his gang approaching quickly. “Ladies, we’re on the move!” Xander said quickly.
Selene strode swiftly over to the door and forced it open. “In here, now,” she said sternly. The group filed in past her, however Willow passed right through Selene. The vampire gasped and felt her heart restart for a second and sent warmth back through her. Amy had surfaced for a second, trying to grab hold of her conciousness and force her to remain in control, but it slipped away and Selene was back.

Selene growled out in fury as she was restrained by two demons. The sniveling princess had managed to get herself on the menu for a bleach-blonde vampire. The name Spike came to her, but she didn’t know where from. The vampire in front of her laughed at her plight. Mocking her by standing close.
Selene struggled and broke free as a wave of energy passed through her body, breaking the spell. Amy’s eyes flared up dangerously and she let out a howl as her body shifted into her lupine form. The lycan lunged forward and caught the vampire by the throat. With a quick twist, the head came loose from the rest of the body and the vampire turned to ash. Amy shifted back and ran to wear Willow was. However, her redhead was nowhere to be found.
Buffy walked up neck to Amy, resting her elbow on her sister’s shoulder. “You know what? It’s good to be me,” she stated, grinning.
Amy nodded, half listening. “Agreed…” she replied.
Xander walked over to him, grinning, dropping his toy gun. “Hey, Buff, Ames. Welcome back,” he said.
“Yeah! You, too,” Buffy responded.
“You guys remember what happened?” Cordelia asked.
Xander nodded. “It was way creepy. It’s like I was there, but I couldn’t get out,” he said.
Amy looked around one last time. “I’ll see you guys tomorrow, I need to find Willow…” she said, not really paying attention to them. Before any of her friends could response, Amy shifted into her wolf form and took of running out the warehouse.
“That’s so creepy…” Cordelia commented.

Amy stepped up onto Willow’s porch later that night. She had already changed from her costume into regular clothing, just a simply jeans and tank-top deal. The sorceress knocked on Willow’s door gently. Amy adjusted her glasses a bit, to stop them from sliding.
Willow opened the door, having not changed out of her costume yet. “Oh! Amy…” she said.
Amy stepped past the threshold, closing the door behind her. The raven-haired girl looked Willow up and down appreciatively, then locked eyes with her, smiling lightly.
“That was some night—“ Willow started, but Amy silenced her by placing one slender finger on the redhead’s lips.
“Don’t talk…” she muttered. Amy leaned in and pressed her lips against Willow. It took Willow a second to wrap her brain around the fact that Amy was kissing her, but she recovered and kissed her back. Amy wrapped her arms around Willow’s neck, removing her glasses in the motion.
Willow broke the kiss for air and forced her head to stop spinning, the kiss made her brain shut down. “I love you, Amelia LeFey…” she whispered to Amy.
Amy smiled widely. “I love you, too, Willow Rosenberg,” she replied softly.
