It was early afternoon BuffBuffy had been pacing around her apartment, she had called Xander in her excitement and had told him about her new found feeling for Faith. She was a little concerned at how he might take the news, but to her astonishment he had offered her his full support. She had been frantically trying to figure out what to wear, and poor Xander was to be clothes expert for her. She had wanted to ask Willow but couldn’t find her anywhere. Kennedy had come around and left quickly when she saw the state of the blond, she couldn’tl wil with hyper Buffy.

Buffy had also been to see Dawn, she didn’t want to keep anything from her sister and wanted to make sure that Dawn would be ok if Buffy and Faith were to become more than just friends. Dawn had just nodded her head and told Buffy that she had been waiting for her to ‘come out’ for a while. That had surprised Buffy but when Dawn explained that Buffy had never been really happy with any of the so-called men in her life that she had put it down to the fact that Buffy should be with a woman. Buffy had thought about how her sister and her best friend knew before even she did.

“Which one Xand?” Buffy asked her friend for the hundredth time in an hour.

“The first one.” He replied gesturing to the dress that had been thrown onto the bed.

“Are you sure, I mean I want to look good, do I look ok in that, I mean it’s not all that.” She asked.

“Buffy you look wonderful in it, and you definitely looked sexy in it.” He st wit with a lopsided grin.

“You sure?” She asked again.

“Buffster for the last time, YES.” He stated flatly.

It was just before seven and Buffy was almost ready, there was a knock at her door. ‘Shit I thought we were meeting downstairs’ she thought to herself.

“Who is it?” She called hoping it wasn’t Faith.

“It’s me.” Willows voice came from the other side.

Buffy swung open the apartment door and was greeted by an open mouthed witch.

“Hey Will you’ll catch flies in there.” Buffy giggled.

“I think I’m changing my credit card.” Willow stared appreciatively at the blond.

Buffy felt herself blush as she watched the expression on her best friends face.

“Buffy you look, wow.” Willow stated.

“Thanks Will, hey where were you earlier I had to get Xander to help me choose my clothes and you know how he is.” Buffy asked her friend.

“Oh you know I’ve been around.” Willow answered with a grin. Buffy frowned at her a little.

“Anyway Buffy are you ready, I’ll walk you down.” Willow offered her arm to her friend.

Buffy breathed deeply and calmed herself, she was really nervous about tonight.

“Yep lets go.” She said when she had calmed herself.

Buffy and Willow were sat in the lobby when they heard Kennedy clear her throat, they both looked up at the same time to see her escorting Faith down the sweeping staircase. Buffy stood to greet them and stared in awe at how beautiful Faith looked. She wore a cream pant suit, the jacked had just one button that was done up, under the jacket you could just make out the satin blouse underneath that was low cut and showed a little cleavage, the pants were low slung and fitted Faiths curves like a glove, the legs were straight flared from the top and swayed ever so gently with each step that she took.

“Wow, you look beautiful.” Buffy stated when the brunette came close to her. Faith blushed a little she wasn’t use to receiving such compliments.

“Thank you, but ya have to thank Red, she took me shopping today.” Faith replied smiling over to Willow who was leaning against Kennedy.

“So that’s where she’s been all day.” Buffy smiled at her friend.

Kennedy nodded her head at Faith. “Oh yeah, Buffy you look amazing.” Faith quickly stated trailing her eyes across Buffy’s body.

Buffy felt like her skin was catching fire at every movement of Faith’s eyes over her.

“Thank you, um are you ready to go?” Buffy asked gesturing to the front door.

“Yep, lets eat.” Faith replied with a grin and held out her hand, Buffy accepted and they walked to the front door.

“Have a good time guys.” Willow called after them but they had already left the house.

They had eaten dinner in a small Japanese restaurant, Buffy never thought she would enjoy sushi but Faith had convinced her to try it, now she was addicted. They had been situated in their own private booth and were only disturbed by the waiters. They had talked about different things but never about their past together, they spoke about the time before they had met and Buffy had told some stories about what had happened while Faith had been in prison.

When the food had arrived they spent more time feeding each other than themselves. At one point h hah had placed half a sushi roll between her lips and leaned in for Buffy to take a bite, gently not loosing eye contact Buffy bit into the offered food and had subtly brushed her lips against Faith’s, it was Faith’s turn to shiver this time. She felt every nerve in her body respond to the blonds touch no matter how gentle.

At the end of the meal they decided to go for a walk, this was unusual for them, cos usually when they were out at this time of night it was for one purpose, to slay. They walked slowly through the streets of their new home hand in hand and were happy just to be with each other. Soon they had ended up back at home.

They entered the house quietly not to be interrupted, this was their night and nothing and no-one were going to spoil it. They made their way to the fourth floor and stepped out of the elevator.

“You wanna come in for a night cap?” Faith asked wiggling her eyebrows at the blond.

“Yeah I’d like that.” Buffy replied with a smile.

When they entered Faith’s apartment, Faith went to the kitchen and opened a bottle of Chardonnay she had in the fridge. She placed the bottle, two glasses and a dish of strawberries onto a tray and gestured to Buffy to follow her.

Buffy followed Faith onto the balcony and up onto the roof. She stood amazed at the sight in front of her, there must have been a hundred candles all around the roof garden that they used to practise Ti Chi, she looked around and spotted a blanket laid out on the floor next to one of the stone turrets that was protruding from the house, she also looked in amazement as she noticed the amount of single white roses that littered the floor.

“Wow.” She stated.

“Thank Red tomorrow.” Faith smiled.

They sat on the blanket and Faith poured them a glass of wine each and motioned Buf Buffy to take hers.

“Here’s to a wonderful night.” Faith said as they raised their glasses and took a gentle sip.

Faith sat with her back against the stone wall and gestured for Buffy to sit in front of her. Buffy complied and positioned herself between Faith’s legs and leaned back so she was resting against her. Faith placed her arms around Buffy and kissed her gently across her shoulder. Buffy moaned slightly at the feeling of Faith’s mouth on her. Faith reached out and picked up one of the strawberries, she dipped it into her glass of wine and delicately traced it across Buffy’s lips. Buffy turned slightly so she was sitting almost side on to the brunette. Faith watched as Buffy’s tongue darted out of her mouth to lick at the wine that had rested on her lips, once again Faith dipped the strawberry in the wine and repeated the same motion, this time Buffy was a little quicker and took a small bite of the offered fruit, as she did this a little of the juice dripped on her chin, she raised her hand to wipe it away but Faith stopped her. She leaned in slowly and gently licked at the sweet juice, she opened her mouth slightly and kissed at Buffy’s chin. Slowly but surely she made her way to Buffy’s mouth.

Faith tentatively kissed Buffy, she didn’t apply much pressure to the kiss, but soon she felt Buffy respond she felt as Buffy’s tongue snaked across her lips so she opened them slightly allowing access. Buffy took the opportunity and gently eased her tongue into Faith’s mouth, they kissed for a long while, both tongues exploring and tasting each other, neither dominating nor being dominated, it was a kiss of new beginnings it was a kiss of laying the past to rest, it was a kissed filled with passion yet was slow and sensual.

Finally they broke apart. “Wow.” Was all Buffy could say, she had a small smile on her face and her eyes were still closed, she could still feel Faith’s lipshershers.

“Huh uh.” Faith replied much in the same situation as Buffy.

As if on cue music started to play from somewhere.

“Red again.” Faith offered in way of explanation.

“I’m gonna have a lot of thanking to do.” Buffy smiled.

“Dance with me.” Faith looked at the blond.

Buffy nodded and stood from her position, she offered her hand to the brunette. Faith took Buffy’s hand as she stood and led them to the middle of the roof. She placed her arms around the blonds waist and pulled her gently to her. Buffy raised her arms and placed them delicately around Faith’s shoulders, they started to move to the music, both enjoying the feel of the other.

The music changed and Buffy recognised it once more. This time she was a little surprised as instead of hng Ang Avril’s voice she heard Faith’s.

Faith lowered her head so she was next to Buffy’s ear and she began to sing.

Buffy listened she was amazed at how good Faith’s voice was, she felt a shiver run down her spine as Faith’s breath caught her ear.

See how I’ve opened up
You’ve made me trust.

Faith gently kissed Buffy’s neck. They didn’t stop dancing.

I’ve never felt like this before

Faith pulled back a little and looked into hazel eyes, she felt as if she could dive into them.

Trying to remember
Why I was afraid
To be myself
And let the covers fall away

In my skin.

Buffy gently cupped the sides of Faiths face and raised herself onto her toes. She leaned in slowly and caught Faiths lips with her own, this kiss was more forceful, she was trying to show Faith that she understood the sentiment in the words that she had sung so beautifully. The kiss lasted a while and when they broke apart Buffy felt something wet on her handsith ith was crying.

“Hey what’s wrong?” She asked gently.

“Nothing, just happy, I don’t think I’ve ever been this happy.” Faith stated leaning in quickly and giving Buffy a quick kiss of reassurance that everything was ok.

They continued to dance for a bit longer until Buffy suggested that they make their way back inside. She followed Faith once again, but this time they continued through the living area and into the bedroom.

The had not let go ofh oth others hands, Faith turned to Buffy and caught her other hand. She looked once again into the hazel eyes.

“B, I don’t know about you, but I’m not ready for this.” She spoke quietly.

“Ready for what?” Buffy asked. Faith nodded her head at the bed.

“Oh,” Buffy started. “ Faith it’s ok, cos to be honest neither am I, I mean I wanna, you know but it’s too soon.” She looked at the ground.

“Me to, I wanna be sure B, I don’t wanna hurt you, I’ve screwed up in the past, and I ain’t gonna do that again.” She replied honestly.

“So you do wanna, ya know?” Buffy asked blushing.

“B, trust me I wanna.” Faith smiled and wiggled her eyebrows at the petite blond.

“Good, I mean, Oh shut up Buffy, Faith shut me up would you.” Buffy smiled, Faith complied she leaned in and they shared another mind blowing kiss, Buffy had never thought that a kiss could make her feel this way, sure she had been kissed and felt good but this, this was something completely new and she liked it, she liked it a lot.

They finally broke apart and quickly changed their clothes.

“Night Faith.” Buffy said and leaned in to kiss Faith gently.

“Night B.” Faith replied returning the kiss, the kiss soon turned into another long and drawn out passionate display of emotions.

“I think we better stop or I’m not gonna be able to.” Buffy stated pulling back from the brunette.

“I think you’re right.” Faith concurred.

“Lets try again, Night Faith.” Buffy smiled.

“Night baby.” Faith replied pulling Buffy in close.
