Calls

a/n: this is part 2 of the last chapter.

Buffy eagerly kissed her husband back. Today had been the first time since they had been married that they had really been away from each other.

"You know something-" Buffy started.

"Hmm?" Angel aske
"
"You know, there is so much we haven't talked about yet. I was hoping maybe tonight we could." Buffy said, a hint of questioning in her voice.

"Okay. What do you want to know?" He asked.

"I don't really know. You know everything about me." Buffy said, with almost a distressing tone.

"That isn't true." Angel said.

"Well, you have never told me about your family." Buffy continued.

Angel looked down. This wasn't something he really wanted to talk about- yet she was his wife and she did have a right to know.

"I got into a fight with my father years ago. We have not spoken since then." Angel knew he didn't want to explain his father to Buffy. While growing up, Angel and his father had always been at odds. As the years went on, this always got worse. Screaming matches turned into physical fights. Although by nature neither Angel nor his father were violent people. They just couldn't seem to get along with one another.

"What happened?" Buffy questioned, very concerned.

"We never got along at all. One day, when I was 19, he kicked me out. That is when I decided that I should join the Council. " Angel explained.

"What did you fight over?" Buffy asked.

Angel had to smile, recalling his wild youth. The smile wasn't one of satisfaction. True, he had fun in those days, but he was also very reckless. The smile was one of contentment- contentment for the way he is now verses the way he had been in those days.

"I had been out partying and drinking all night. One morning I came home and he had just had enough. " Angel half lied.

"Okay, actually, there is a little more to it than that." He decided that she deserved the full truth.

"What." Buffy pressed him to tell.

"Well, that night I had been drinking a lot. I met this girl. She came home with me. Dad caught us in bed together. It was a strict Christian home, things like that just didn't happen. He might have been able to get over it, only the girl hapd tod to be the daughter of his boss. We really got into it. He slapped me, I punched him. We yelled and fought. Finally, he just told me to back my things, leave and never come back." Angel explained.

"Oh wow." Was all Buffy could say.

"Yeah." Angel said.

"And your mother?" Buffy asked.

"She just pretty much went we what dad said. I do them miss them both. They don't even know where I am. Although they do have Sam." Angel said, visibly upset by the conversation.

"Sam?" She asked.

"Samantha. My little sister. Only she would be your age now." He explained. He really had to force himself not to cry at the thought of all the events in her life he had missed out on.

Buffy picked up the phone. Although she could certainly sense Angel's sadness, she wasn't going to miss an opportunity to attempt help him, just as he would try and help Tara.

"So call them." She said causally.

"Oh yeah right, after 8 years....."Angel trailed, he was now shaking at the intensity of the conversation.

"Why not? Hasn't been way too long already?" Buffy asked.

"He said he didn't want me to come back.." Angel said quietly.

"You aren't going back, you are calling." Buffy firmly insisted that he do this.

At his wife's insistence, Angel picked up the phone and dialed number, shocking himself that he was able to recall the digets. Buffy was right, it had been too long.
