Life Bites

Disclaimer: Do I really need to say it? LOL Chapter 10 Life Bites Faith and Tru went into the morgue as quietly as they could. Faith had told Tru that the element of surprise would probably be their best bet. "Definately looks like something was going on." She whispered to Tru. There were papers and other loose things lying about everywhere. It looked like Davis' desk had been overturned. Tru was scared for her friend. She had seen what vampires were like earlier, and she knew Davis was probably at the least hurt. Faith moved like a cat. Tru was impressed at how silently she was able to cross the paper littered floor. Faith gestured for her to stay put and went into the next room. Tru tried to look everywhere at once. She didn't fancy being surprised at all. She carefully made her way over to a wall and leaned her back against it, so that no one would be able to sneak up on her from behind. She was holding on to the stake that Faith had given her tightly. She was scared; but if Faith or Davis needed her she would be there. She heard a crash from the next room and forgetting her fear, she ran to see what it was. When she burst through the door, she saw her sister standing over a pile of ash. "I got him." Faith breathed. "Davis is okay. He got bit; but I don't think he lost a whole lot of blood. Tru sighed in relief. Her sister was okay, Davis was okay and the vampire was dead. "What's going on?" Asked Davis' demanding voice. Tru turned to see his lab coat stained with spots of blood. Faith winced. Yet another person to find out about her slayerness. She looked at Tru and her sister shrugged. "Okay Davis," Said Faith. "the guy you saw, the one that just turned into dust," Davis nodded as Tru took a look at his neck. "Well, that was a vampire." Faith said. "I kinda got that." He said grimacing as Tru touched the punctures in his neck. She took off to find some antiseptic and a bandage. "Well, you should be aware of them of all people. Morgue workers are often vampires first victims." Davis nodded as Tru came hurrying back in with her supplies. "Vampires aren't the only things I have to worry about," Faith started. "Beacuse I'm what's known as a vampire slayer. I have to deal with vampires, demons and pretty much anything else that's evil." "Wanna take care of my landlord?" Davis yelped as Tru put the antiseptic on his neck. "Don't joke aout that." Faith said in a small voice. Tru stopped dabbing the medicine on Davis for a moment and looked at her sister. "It's okay Faith. It wasn't your fault. and Davis didn't know about that." "About wha.." Davis was cut off by a sharp shake of Trus' head. "It's okay. He can ask." Said Faith. "I killed a guy on accident. I used to not be a very nice person. I killed a guy and tried to blame it on someone I cared about. After that I was on the wrong side for awhile. Then I went to jail." "And you were let out when?" She laughed. "I got broken out by a friend of mine." "So you're an escaped con?" "Not exactly. I have some friends high up and they cleared my record. I'm a free girl now." Davis was wondering if it was all right to trust this girl. He mentally kicked himself. She'd just saved him from a painful death. She was allright in his book. She sighed. "This really is a long story, and I just got done telling it. Tru, you wanna take over? I think I'm gonna call Dawnie back." Tru nodded, understanding her sisters reluctance to revisit painful memories. She watched as her sister left the room, already dialing her cell. Faith sighed as her phone dialed Cleveland. She hated that whenever she was around bad things happened to people. 'It's not you,' Her mind argued.'If not for you, he'd be vamp chow.' 'Yeah; but you're the slayer, and trouble follows you around like a love sick puppy.' She argued back. The phone was ringing on the other end and her thoughts were interrupted by it being answered. "Hello?" "Hi Dawnie, it's me." "Hi Faith, is everything okay?" "Yeah, I got the vamp." "Good, I was worried about you and your friend." Dawn breathed a sigh of relief. "Yeah, he got bit; but I got here in time to stop anything too awful happening." Dawn laughed. "I bet he just had the shock of his life." "Yeah, so how're things on the homefront?" "Same old." Dawn replied. "Buffys' driving the girls nuts, and they're returning the favor. SO what's going on with you?" 'If you only knew, kid.' Faith thought. AN: Well, y'all laundry calls. LOL I gotta go slave for awhile. Hope you liked the chapter.
