Chapter Ten
Spike stood in the hallway with Angelus. “It’s wrong. This whole thing. You should just let her go.”
Angelus laughed at him. “The only reason you want me to let her go is so you get to have her all to yourself. It doesn’t work that way, Spike. You took what’s mine, remember? You’re lucky I’m even letting you live.” He grabbed Spike by the shoulders and kissed him hard on the mouth. Spike shoved him away.
“I’m getting out of this madhouse for awhile.” He walked rapidly toward the stairs.
Angelus let him go, knowing he would be back. Spike always came back.

Spike sat down on the front steps outside the mansion. He lit a cigarette. Angelus had been right about one thing. He did want Buffy all to himself. He loved her. He knew it would hurt her to find out about Riley kidnapping Xander. Angelus was going to hold that one over her head, forcing her to do his bidding. Spike stood up, threw the cigarette down and ground it out with his boot. He got on his motorcycle and pointed it toward the Initiative complex. He knew he must be crazy to try it, but he had to, for her.

Riley punched Xander in the jaw again. “Where is she? Come on, Xander. I can keep this up all night, my arm isn’t even tired yet. Where did Angelus take Buffy?”
Xander’s face was all swollen, black and blue. He spit out some blood. “I’m not telling you anything but name, rank, and serial number.”
Riley pulled the chair out from under Xander, dumping him on the floor. He kicked him in the ribs.
Angelus laughed at him. “The only reason you want me to let her go is so you get to have her all to yourself. It doesn’t work that way, Spike. You took what’s mine, remember?
