Faith had no particular destination in mind, she just wanted to get away from the home and hearth. Seeing Buffy become so domesticated was highly disturbing. This girl, who used to love to get in a scrap, was now a mommy. She’d asked her if she planned on slaying any more, and she had told her she didn’t know. Faith just didn’t understand how she could give this up. She wasn’t going to let domestication catch up with her, it just wasn’t going to happen. She was currently in Oregon taking a breather. She had plans to go Las Vegas and set up residence. She heard about a band of Demons that pretty much ran the city, and she wanted to put a stop to it. She’d once and for all told Wood that she wasn’t interested. She’d been on and off with him for almost a year, but he’d wanted her settle down with him, like Buffy had. That just wasn’t her thing. Maybe eventually, but right now, she wanted to slay. It was that simple for her.

She currently in Portland, taking in the sights. She’d never seen anything so beautiful. The landscape was something she only saw in her dreams, and she planned on making this a lengthy visit. She’d always been a loner. She’d never really had a watcher, so she hadn’t needed to ask anyone’s permission to come here. Buffy had her own life, and she wanted to step out of the shadows, into her own life. She was walking along a hiking trail. It was starting to get dark, but Faith didn’t mind. She felt most comfortable in the darkness. It was kind of fitting really. As she got further on the trail, she came across a child sized shoe. She bend down and picked it up. She really hoped that the kid just lost it, instead of something else. She held onto the shoe, and continued down the trail. She came upon a pond with a rock in the middle of it. She smiled, and slipped her shoes off to go wading. When she stepped in, the cold actually shocked her. She relished in the cold water, and sat down on one of the rocks. When she got cold she stood up, and it was then that she noticed the cave that she was in front of. It was odd that she hadn’t noticed it when she first came upon it. She had absolutely no intention of going in there, until she heard a scream. Faith shook her head, thinking that the slayer’s work was never done.

Spike loved Las Vegas. He went as often as he could get there. He hadn’t been in a long time, since he’d been helping Buffy and all. He didn’t much like the Demons that ran the place, but it was a nice vacation that was for sure. He missed talking to her, but he couldn’t stand her giving the lovey dovey eyes at Angel. He’d never liked the guy, so it really sucked to see him with the woman he loved. He was currently in his hotel room, living like a real person. It was strange now that he wasn’t a vampire. It would not be fun if he ran into any of his old Demon pals, because they’d probably kill him when they found out he was human. He had a second chance at life, and he found himself becoming philosophical at times. He wondered if he’d be able to cope with the fact that he no longer needed blood to survive. Okay, that one wasn’t hard, because he loved food. He looked at his watch and saw it was fairly early to go to sleep, and decided to try his luck in the casino. He walked into the lobby, and immediately bumped into someone who knew him.

“ Spike! Buddy, how are you? I haven’t seen you since I left Sunnydale! I hear that it’s no longer there, so that’s a plus. How’s Buffy and everyone?” Spike shook his head. Clem had always been a talker.

“ She’s fine, mate. She’s got a little one to worry about now.” Clem’s face brightened.

“ Buffy’s a mom? Oh, that’s wonderful! Who’s the lucky guy? Hey, it wasn’t Xander, was it? I always thought that those two would make a great couple, if they gave it a shot.” Spike looked at Clem like he’d lost his mind.

“ No, you ninny, she had a baby by Angel. You know him, don’t you? Captain forehead?” Clem scratched his head.

“ Angel? I thought he was a vampire like you. Also, I didn’t think vampires could have kids.” Spike chuckled at how dense he was.

“ Vampires can’t have kids...usually. Angel is no longer a creature of the dark, he’s a living breathing human being. He’s also a very proud pop, and will kill anything that tries to pick up his kid, considering what happened to the last one.” Clem didn’t say anything for awhile.

“ Angel is human? How in the world did that happen? Come to think of it, Spike, I hear a heartbeat on you...are you Human too?” Spike sighed, and nodded.

“ Yes I am, and I’d like for that piece of information to stay between the two of us, okay?” Clem nodded his agreement.

“ I completely understand, and you don’t have to worry about a thing. Your secret is completely safe with me.” When spike turned around to leave, he was confronted by several guys in dark suits. That must mean that the head guy knew he was in town. The ‘leader’ of the group stepped forward.

“ Seraphim would like for you to visit with her for awhile. She’s been expecting you for awhile.” Spike went along without any trouble, but wasn’t looking forward to the meeting. Seraphim was a old friend, but they’d been on the outs, since he had killed her brother. She was a beautiful creature, but a nasty demon, when you had to deal with her. He had a feeling that this wouldn’t be a nice social visit. When he entered her room, only one light was on, and no one was around. He walked over to the window, when she spoke.

“ Well, well, well. If it isn’t William the Bloody back in my town. To what do I owe this great honor?” She stepped into the light, and Spike was struck by her beauty. She had long flowing black hair to her waist. She had perfect silk skin. Her eyes were green, which gave away her type of Demon. Tethelo Demons could either be very reasonable, or they could rip your heart out with a look. She smiled at the look he was giving her.

“ It has been a long time, hasn’t it? I honestly didn’t think you would dare show your face to me again, after what you did. I only have one question...why shouldn’t I kill you where you stand?”

Spike couldn’t help but think how his life as a human, wasn’t going to be much different than his as a vampire. There was only one small difference...as a human, he could get his ass kicked.
