Strangeties
Alright, so, intro stuff. Sorry to disappoint you Fuffy fans, this is a Buffy/Willow story. Though I’m primarily Fuffy myself, I do write those on occasion. This is just a special Christmas Story, because it was asked of me, and if you want it continued… well… you really to have to review, as opposed to the lack of them like on other stories.
This is set in Season four, and I don’t remember a Christmas eppie from then, but this is to take it’s place. As well, Tara’s definitely not in the picture yet. Just a casual friend that only occasionally does spells with her. ^.^ I’ll prolly have to twist a few things, but then again, when does an author NOT twist a few things?
***********************************
Willow looked around the room as she waited for Buffy to get back from patrol. On her side was a small, fake tree, decorated, as well as a Menorah. The candles in it were already burned out, it being past Chanukah, but it was still there for representational value. As well, she had a few Yule things up, though most people mistook them for Christmas decorations. Buffy, however, didn’t really have much up. A nutcracker that some random guy had given her, another silly boy with a crush, a few bits of garland, and other completely random decorations. They were supposed to celebrate at Buffy’s mother’s house anyway. Willow had chosen not to go home to her parents except for Chanukah’s actual nights, big surprise. What could be taking the slayer so long?
“Hey Wills!” Buffy twisted into the room, smiling broadly. She was dirty, dusty, and had a few scrapes. “What’re you doing up?”
“Er… being up?” Willow looked confused at Buffy’s chipper manner. “Have a good slay?”
“Nah, not really. I got my butt handed to me repeatedly. Some big bad vampire. Really old. He actually ended up being so cocky that he tripped in the middle of the cemetery and landed on an upward facing root. Dusted himself.” She smiled broadly and bounced onto Willow’s bed with her. “Wanna go for some late night coffee?”
“Um… I don’t think you need caffeine, Buffy. Are you okay?” Willow looked worried now. Buff had just had a bad slay, ending conveniently admittedly, but a bad slay, and was acting like her biggest dream just came true. What, did that old vamp’s death suddenly end the unlife of every other vampire and demon on the face of the planet?
“Perfectly wonderful, Wills. You know, you’re cute when you’re confused.” Buffy scrunched up her nose, still acting hyper, and Willow flushed a deep scarlet. The blonde actually even poked the witch’s nose. “Willow, you don’t have to blush so much. You know I’ve always thought you’re cute.”
Willow turned an even brighter shade of red and stared at Buffy as the girl jumped up and began stripping her clothes off, changing. The redhead’s eyes turned into round saucers and she quickly looked away. No matter that they’d seen each other like that enough to where it didn’t really matter. They were roommates after all. “Buffy, are you sure you’re feeling alright? You’re acting kinda strange. Well, at least strange for you. Maybe not strange for a pink bunny on caffeine pills. But you’re not a pink bunny on caffeine pills, you’re Buffy. If you were a pink bunny on caffeine pills it would be kinda cool though, cause you would really scare Anya, and that would be funny…”
“Willow, you’re really adorable when you babble, you know.” Buffy interrupted, stopping Willow’s stream of words. “And I’m feeling perfectly fine. Well, aside from the cuts and bruises, but those don’t really bother me much now that we’re together. You’ve always made me feel warm and happy inside.” Willow fainted.
~
When the redhead finally woke back up, Buffy was on her bed with her, still only half dressed, and cradling her gently. “Wills! Are you okay?” Buffy whispered in concern, love and worry radiating from her green eyes. Willow’s own eyes widened in shock again, and she quickly moved out of the Slayer’s grasp. “You just fainted.”
“Um… I probably didn’t eat enough at dinner. Buffy, can you finish getting dressed?” Willow asked nervously, fidgeting with a few things on her desk. Buffy stood and walked over, wrapping her arms around the redheaded Wiccan. “Buffy?”
“You really should take better care of yourself Willow. I’d die if I lost you.” The slayer whispered in her ear, and Willow’s eyes went wide and buggy again as she squirmed out of the blonde’s grip once more. Okay, either she was in some random fantasy land, or something was definitely wrong with Buffy.
“Please get dressed?” She asked, sounding a little frightened. Buffy looked confused and hurt, but did as she was asked. “Um, I’m really worried about you Buffy. Can we go talk to someone? I want to make sure that nothing’s wrong.”
“Will you eat something so you don’t faint again?” was Buffy’s only concern, which Willow nodded to, but was even more worried at.
They reached Tara’s room not too long after Buffy forced Willow to fix a sandwich from things in their little fridge. The blonde witch was surprised to get the late night visitors, but understood that it had to be important from the way that Willow just looked at her desperately when she opened the door. Tara looked a little confused as Willow stood there, trying to think up how to tell the girl what she thought was wrong, while the Blonde with her occasionally inched closer and tried to link hands, or touch her in some other way as she checked to make sure that Will was ‘feeling better’. “Um… Tara, this is my roommate Buffy. She came back from… being out tonight… and was acting like this. It’s really not like her.”
Tara watched in fascination now as Willow did her best to either not react to Buffy, or move away from the girl. Why was Willow complaining? Tara had just gotten a confession out of the girl the previous week that Buffy was the biggest crush the redhead had ever had. “Um… yes, f- from what you t- tell me ab-bout her, thi-this is n-not how she w- would be act-acting.” Tara stuttered out. Buffy looked up, a little startled, then smiled gently and held out a hand. “Hi?”
“Hello. Um… I didn’t catch your name.” Buffy smiled goofily.
“T-Tara.” The witch supplied, still startled.
“Great to meet you! You’re the girl that Willow practices with sometimes, right? She always comes back smiling. You must be really nice. Willow, why didn’t you introduce us before?” Buffy turned back to Willow with sparkling eyes.
“Er… yeah, so, I was wondering if you knew anything we might be able to do to check and see if she was knocked on the head… or has a spell on her… or something. Anything.” Willow began looking even more worried as Buffy walked back over and wrapped her arms around the redhead’s shoulders and pouted about not being introduced to the nice witch before.
“She’d have to lay down.” Tara mumbled, rummaging through her things now that the Slayer’s attention wasn’t really on her anymore. Willow nodded, and tugged Buffy in the direction of a cleared floor area.
“Buffy, please lay down and be still for a few minutes. I’m afraid you got hurt in that fight tonight.” Willow said with a small, nervous smile. Buffy frowned at her, suspicious of what they were doing, but nodded and laid down, watching Willow like a hawk. “What now?”
Tara walked back over and handed Willow a few herbs to burn, closing her eyes and concentrating. Several minutes passed by, and Buffy was beginning to fidget. Then Tara’s eyes slowly opened and she sighed, shrugging. “I can’t find anything wrong with her. She seems pretty okay. Her soul and spirit are all in one piece, they fit just fine, and there’s no warping from spells or some such. Hit on the head though… that I wouldn’t know.” She mumbled out, directing it all at Willow. Willow she was comfortable enough with that she didn’t stutter. Once Buffy even looked at her again, though, she’d likely start another stammer run.
“Oh… okay.” Willow frowned. It just didn’t add up. This simply was not the way Buffy acted. She came back home from patrol, usually either tired or really hyped up, showered, and didn’t come back for at least an hour from her hot shower. She always took that time to calm herself down from the slaying, letting her blood slow to a normal pace, and whatever other effects it caused ware off. She didn’t want to think of if Faith was right, and it caused Buffy to be hungry and horny. She really couldn’t stand thinking about if Buffy was masturbating in the shower each night. She’d go insane. “Um… Thanks anyway Tara. I’ll see you another time. Happy Solstice and Merry Yule.” Willow stood and helped Buffy up, though the blonde didn’t really need it. “I’ll just try to get her to sleep. Maybe she’ll feel better in the morning.”
Willow didn’t get to sleep that night, as Buffy insisted that she was lonely, and wanted to sleep in Willow’s bed. The blonde slayer was so close that Willow could smell her with every breath, and Buffy and curled around with one leg and one arm across the redheaded hacker. She was exhausted when the alarm finally went off, and Buffy only made it worse. She grumbled cutely and nuzzled into Willow’s breasts, mumbling, “Dun wanna wake up.”
The redhead gulped loudly and nudged Buffy off of her slowly, slipping out of bed and going to take a shower quickly. Her entire body was on fire. She’d just spent an entire night in bed with the woman of her dreams curled around her… after a night of that same woman pawing at her almost constantly. When she walked back into the room with only her robe on, Buffy was sitting up in bed, looking like a drowsy little child. Her eyes snapped open though, when she saw Willow walk in and close the door. “Time to wake up, Buffster.”
“Wow…” Buffy’s eyes were huge as she stared unwaveringly at Willow moving about. Her eyes seemed to be focused completely on Willow’s ass. Willow looked over her shoulder nervously at the attention several times, before just taking her clothes and changing behind her closet door. “Um, Willow, you and Tara seem.. kinda… I don’t know… close.”
“Where do you get that?” Willow asked, peaking around her door.
“The way she was looking at you. And she didn’t stutter when she was talking with you.” Buffy sat on the end of the bed, trying to look around the door and see something. “Um… are you two… you know… anything?”
“We’re friends… What do you mean Buffy?” Willow asked even more nervously as she quickly finished dressing and came back around the door to comb her hair.
“Nevermind.” Buffy sighed and stood up. “Why didn’t you wait so that we could shower to… at the same time?” Willow’s head snapped up and stared at her. “Nevermind!” Buffy trotted out of the room, more like pranced, and was then gone.
It was quite an effort to get Buffy to Giles’s place without a fuss. That was until Willow turned to her and just said a heartfelt “Please, Buffy?” And then there was no fuss. It really was rather strange. Giles didn’t really notice the change at first, and Xander definitely didn’t, but Spike was in the livingroom watching Passions. He was quick on the uptake, unfortunately, and immediately commented.
“So the Slayer’s got herself a li’l git to fawn on.” Spike smiled. “Decided to swing the other way, Sayer?”
Willow blushed brightly and expected Buffy to explode and start ranting at Spike as usual. However, Buffy only smiled shyly and blushed, looking at Willow with adoring eyes. “Er, Giles, I believe we have a problem. Cause you know, Buffy’s acting strange. She’s acting really strange, and it’s strange. She came home like this last night from patrol and was all happy and stuff, even though this old vampire guy kicked her but, then accidentally dusted himself. Then she started getting all cuddly and I was scaring me cause this isn’t Buffy type behavior, so we went to my friend Tara’s room. She’s a witch too, really powerful, and she helped me to check Buffy for spells or anything that could be causing it and we didn’t find anything. Not one thing. And it’s really strange and I’m worried because she keeps looking at me like that and the old Buffy didn’t and what’s going on?”
“Take a breath, Will.” Xander said with a smile. He’d always thought that Willow’s babble was adorable, in the funny I wanna poke her way.
“Isn’t she just so cute when she babbles.” Buffy said with a wide smile. It seemed to be getting worse by the hour.
“Buffy, could you please go over the events of last night’s patrol for me in detail?” Giles asked, cleaning his glasses. This was not good, and the current symptom she was displaying, whatever it was that had happened, was definitely making him uncomfortable. Willow sat Buffy down forcefully and nodded. And the Slayer told her story. A normal patrol, a few newbies, and then this vampire and his cronies came out of a mosoleum, some carrying kittens. Probably a poker game. Most of them ran when they saw her, but eh stayed and fought. Which reminded her that she had a kitten waiting in one of the other tombs, vampire free, with some milk she’d retrieved, for Willow to take as a pet. Well, they fought, he was kicking her ass, and then he started to just walk away from her laughing, tripped on a gravestone, and staked himself on a broken, upturned root. She actually laughed at that, though she was pretty beat up. Then she went to get some milk for the kitten he’d dropped, and stashed it in a safe mosoleum.
“And then I came home to my Willow. I missed her so much. I was so happy when I saw her again that I couldn’t stop smiling. She seemed pretty concerned for some reason though, and made me go to her friend’s dorm with her and lay down for some smelly stuff.” Buffy smiled fondly at Willow. “I’m sure that whatever she was doing, it was for my own good though. Right Wills?”
“And you said that you checked her over for anything different?”
“Nothing different spiritually, her soul fits into her just right, and there were no spells that we could detect. Her head didn’t seem to be injured at all, last night though. She let me check it over before bed.” Willow sighed and shook her head. “Nothing.”
