Disclaimer: I hardly own this computer I’m writing on, much less the wonderful town of Sunnydale and all those within. Joss Whedon, UPN, WB and other people who aren’t me own Buffy and all of her friends.

Author’s Notes: This is the sequel to Wolf Tracks. Yeah me! I’m changing the Buffyverse once again. Anything to keep Fred, Wes and Cordy. Yes that’s a spoiler for the fic. Ain’t I nice like that? To give you hope? If both Angel and Buffy were still on, this would be happening this summer. Now in other words.

Lycanthrope, Vampirism, and Magick.

Chapter One

Xander pulled his bike to a stop at one of the many par lot lots out skirting Golden Gate Park. He took off his helmet, being a werewolf may mean he’d survive a crash, but it wouldn’t be fun, he took a deep breath, trying to catch as many scents as he could.

There was mainly human of course, raccoon, deer,er wer wildlife scents. And some demon of course, and both the new and the old scents overlapped.

Xander grinned, a very toothy grin if there was anyone around to notice. This would make a great hunting ground, close to town but plenty of wooded areas. Plus there was also that Fish and Game Refuge further south if he wanted. Perfect. He just might stay in San Francisco for a while, settle a bit. He was tired of not having a home

Xander started walking down on of the paths in the park. This was really a wonderful area, the forest and hills soothing his wolf, but with enough people around that he wouldn’t feel lonely or out of place.

He stopped suddenly, his enhanced hearing picking up a sound that was out of place. He checked the air for a scent. There, the smell of humans and demons. He started running towards the source. There were three women fighting and Xander could tell they were very powerful. There was also a man with them; all four were trying to fight through a line of demons that stood between them and a cage under a tree. Looking closer Xander could see two small forms, children.

These must be those Charmed Ones he had heard so much about during his travels, and those must be their kids.

The demons they were fighting were reptilian in nature, sort of like humanoid rattlesnakes. He’d had a lot of experience in the desert killing rattlers, these shouldn’t be too hard. Plus anything trying to capture little kids had to be bad. Xander decided to wait just a bit to make sure.

He watched the women fight and realized they worked well together. The one woman with longish hair could make a gesture with her hands and the demons exploded like the egg he had put in the microwave on a dare back in JR. High. Useful ability.

The brunette had some great martial arts moves, and wasn’t afraid to fight. She sort of reminded him of Buffy. The last woman was doing some sort of transporter thing, only with a great lightshow. Popping from one area of the clearing to the next in a swirl of white lights. The man fighting with them was doing this as well, and he was pretty good with a sword too.

From what he could hear, the demons were trying to sacrifice the children for power. Okay so the super powered humans were the white hats and the demons were the bad guys. He noticed that four of the demons were approaching the cage holding the two children, and knew he had to do something.

However he just couldn’t run up there, they’d notice. As he was trying to figure out how to get to the kids, one demon got closer and Xander noticed some sort of energy shield came up around them. Cool kids.

He edged around the clearing as carefully as possible. The demons didn’t notice but the man did, and he started to make a distraction so Xander could get to the cage.

All that stood between him and the kids were four demons. Xander let himself shift ever so slightly so he was in a half-man, half-wolf state. A few moments later and the demons were dead, either by broken neck, or torn out throat. As soon as the last one was dead the shield that had been around the kids went down, and all he had to worry about was the lock.

The kids were young. One looked to be just a couple of months old and the other looked to be just over one. They were both boys and cute as hell. The older boy looked at Xander through the cage and put his hands out to be picked up.

Xander took out the lock picks he had started carrying, and unlocked the cage, and picked the boy up.

“Hey there little guy. It’s okay; you’re safe. I got ya. Can you hold on to my neck real tight? Good boy.” Okay so he wasn’t sure how much the kid could understand, but Xander was sure the tone carried to the child that he was safe now. In his other arm he scooped up the sma chi child and then he started running like hell for the other side of the clearing.

A couple of the demons tried to stop him, but he was much faster. The littlest baby had started crying though, and Xander wasn’t sure what else to do but run.

Suddenly, in a burst of light, the red head popped in front of him and grabbed his arm. “Hold on!” she told him and he was abruptly surrounded in a swirl of lights.

He had a sense of vertigo, the same sort of feeling he had when he was a kid and fell off the swing. When his head finally stopped he found himself in the living room of someone’s house.

The baby was crying still, and the woman took him from his without really looking at Xander. She started making shushing sounds and rocking to quiet the child. “It’s okay Chris, Auntie Paige has you, and you’re home.”

The crying only got louder; it hurt Xander’s ears. He took a deep breath and figured out what was wrong. “Umm, I think he needs changed. No I know he needs changed, really really needs changed.” The toddler still had a pretty good grip on his neck and seemed content with staying where he was.

“That makes sense, those Keilions had them for a while.” The woman, Paige presumably, told him. “Can you hold Wyatt while I change Chris? Thanks.” Without even waiting for an answer she ran up the stairs.

Xander looked at the little blonde boy. “So you’re Wyatt huh? Hi there. You’re Auntie Paige is nuts for leaving you with a stranger. Did you know that? Or is she your mommy? You’re a very brave little boy, or witch, or whatever you are.” He rocked the child on his hip, trying to comfort him. He really didn’t know what else to do, despite the fact that he loved kids.

“You’re right, he is brave and Paige is nuts. Now where is Chris?” The voice came from behind him and Xander jumped. He had neither heard nor smelled them come in the room.

The other two women were standing there behind him, along with the man. The woman with long brown hair had a murderous look in her eyes, and he could tell that she was the mother.

Xander was not stupid. He immediately handed over Wyatt and answered her question. “She took him upstairs to change him. Smells like this little guy could use a change too, but he’s not as insistent.”

The other woman stepped forward and put a hand on her sister’s shoulder. At least they smelled like sisters, pack at least. “You go on up Piper, take Wyatt and check on Chris. I’ll stay with our…guest. Leo you’d better go with her, you can send Paige down.”

The couple left, Piper shooting a dirty look at him over her shoulder. He was alone with the last woman, he wasn’t sure of her name yet.

“Have a seat tall, dark and handsome. Thanks for saving my nephews. Now do you mind telling me who and what the hell you are and why the fact that we were fighting demons didn’t freak you out?
