This is the kind of Buffy/Angelus fic that makes some sense to me.
He wants her as badly as Angel does, and as Willow once noted, there are many similarities. Save that where Angel craved her happiness and joy, and often sought to comfort her - without his soul he feasts off her pain. He's not suddennly going to be all nice just because he loves her and he's not trying to "win" her - then he would be Spike.
No. Angelus is trying to mold her. Because while he too wants Buffy, Angelus has to have her just right... So to speak. And playing as Angel. Clearly he's learned some lessons. I like that - he's living up to his rep for inventive and painstaking cruelty. You've really got to care, and be focused to hurt someone so precisely. Scary fucker....
And Buffy's confusion. I like your use of her bond. She can still sense the demon like she's always done, and apparently a bond between their souls. I like how you (and Angelus) rely upon her insecurities - she can sense the missing soul, but presumes this is because he's still Angel but no longer loves her. I think it strikes at a certain truth as to who Buffy and Angelus are at that spot in S7/4.
Keep it up. I want to find out what Angelus' ultimate plan is, but I think I need to see the drawn out tortures, because I believe that would be his MO.

Ch. 5 This is getting just a little too close for comfort--no pun intended. I have to tell you, this is graphic and deeply disturbing which is probably what is intended. I'm getting goose pimples just thinking about it. This kicks Poe's dusty little ass.
